Take 2
If you bought the Joey L DVD, post your post Joeyfied image here. If you do not like that style of imagery, think that the images here suck, or don't like Joey's DVD, no problem just click here and search for something that intrests you more.
I really took alot out of the DVD and enjoyed watching his images come to life. I never will be as good at producing that type of image, but it did open up a whole new world for me to explore. The images that I saw in the last thread were also very nice and very inspiring. Here are some of My Joeyized images.

I have more and will upload them tonight.
Edit to add I really like that flower shot. The one thing I took out of the DVD more than anything was about taking photos for use of textures only. I am glad I bought it either way. And if you guys want some free textures. There are tons here:

I didn't get the dvd because I don't have photoshop at the moment. Is this something worth getting for future reference? In case I ever do get photoshop?
Are you going to continue to offer it JOey, or was it a one time deal?

Here's the first one I tried using ideas from the DVD. The way Joey does things is very different from my usual workflow, however I've managed to adapt and incorporate key ideas and techniques into my own :) I think it's very tempting to over-do the texture aspect of it, and I think I've slightly overdone it myself. Joey manages to be very subtle but still impactful, and that's something you just need an eye for I think... still, practice makes perfect :) I'll keep experimenting!

Another try using a circuit board instead of a grungy texture, cos I thought it fit quite well... oh, and the traditional crack too, hehe :)

Well if you had gotten the video I think you get coupons which you can use to get better models. That one in the middle especially is subpar. :P

Maybe you should make a video? I could learn from you. |

It is like a scary Short Circuit movie. I think you should contact Hollywood and let them know that you might have a great movie idea for them. |

I should pick up the video, because my attempts at grunge have met with very poor results.
I'm glad this thread got posted, I was curious where the throng of grunge entries were after the videos went out... |

Couple of the ideas on the DVD could make this shot a winner!

I don;t think any of it is legal under the editing rules. So I don't think you will ever see it.

I did not purchase the DVD, but I think I would like to. Would you say this photo is something like it?

I don't know about this video, but it looks like grunging and masking to me? I just played a little in my PSP8 tonight. Here is my first try at it.
Here is the original

Ya, I think it is somewhat like that. I think the cool thing is the creative process that Joey runs you through. He talks about seeing what your final product should look like in your head before you go to post. That was the part that helped me the most. |

These are my grunge attempts without seeing the video. I actually got it and I just haven't opened it yet. I'm at home for the summer without photoshop so figured there wasn't a rush to see it. I look forward to seeing what I can do with his tips. |

I think it is good without having the program. I got more from the way he thinks when he shoots than I did from the actuall process of editing which is also cool.
I have really been trying to start working that whole idea of the pretty vs ugly contrast into my future images. |

Now that the challenge is over I can add my 'sorta-joeyized' entry. I would have done more but some of what is in the DVD is not allowed in challenges - like adding texture layers.
Anyhow - I was a bit disappointed with it only making 66th place.

I bought it, just haven't had time to watch it yet!
But I did this one for a challenge based on Joey's written tutorial, and I was really happy with it (though the voters less so!)
Anyway, despite the vote here, it won second place photo of the month at Digital Image Cafe a while back.

i didn't get the video either, but this was my attempt at the style.
I like the way it came out much better than the original. |
