OK, one of my wifes co-workers has commissioned me to do a family portrait (her and her two daughters). Additionally I'll probably be doing a couples shot (one daughter and her boyfriend). Due to limited studio options, this will be done outside in one of our local parks. I'll probably go the early morning route to get the best lighting. I am pretty familiar with most of the basics... fill flash, DOF, etc, but I need inspiration for poses. I do NOT want to do the standard played-out crap that you see hanging on every mantle in the world. I want to go with a unique look and portraits that capture the essence of the individuals rather than a superficial image of what they look like. I have a few ideas, but could always use more. Use this thread to show off YOUR family portraits/couples shots so that we can gain inspiration from each other. Thanks in advance.

this one is of my grandfather... its a little different then the norm :)

remember a good portrait doesnt have to be set up, many of the great portraits are taken of people "in their element".

Certainly not your typical portraits, but these may give you some ideas...

You can only do thumbs for images on DPC using the rightmost button above the Message edit box.

If you have thumbnails on your site you must link to it knowing the image location and the link location...
To get this:

I do this:
[ url=//www.esmiley.net/2006.05.21marilynparty/_dsc1973_portrait.htm]
[ img]//www.esmiley.net/2006.05.21marilynparty/images/_dsc1973_portrait_th.jpg[/img]
minus the spaces after the '['.

Here's mine. My first "real" photo shoot, with the in-laws--and I had only had my camera for about 3 months. They are grainy because of the bright light and I used ISO400 (auto-selected by the camera, I didnt know how to use manual settings at that point.) I had a ball taking these and they loved them! :) These are only 4 of the 25 or so I took.
