450 entries, and only 200 votes so far. I would hate to think ppl are entering challenges just to enter, and leaving it up to everybody else to vote.
Come on now ppl, vote! Just doesn't seem right that there is 450 entries and only 200 votes.
Is anybody else feeling the same way? |

Just so you know, some people don't vote on challenges they submit to because they feel they can't be objective about the voting... Granted, I don't think 250 people do that, but I know many do

I know sometimes people who enter don't vote in the challenges that they enter. The reasoning was that they don't want to be accused of 'vote tampering', when they aren't doing it.
I mean, seriously, with all the negative talk about trolls and people voting, who wants to vote these days anyway? I sure don't. When I see people bitching about their negative scores etc...sure doesn't welcome me in.
I really dislike seeing people say stuff like 'you're stupid because you didn't give my photo a high score', and then see that I didn't give it a high score...I kind of take that personally.
Maybe if people didn't whine so much when people DO vote/comment...there would be more voting and commenting.
Just an observation.
The other observation is that it's too darn nice to be sitting here in front of the computer when it's a beautiful day to be out taking pics. Summer is always slower for voting/commenting.
This too shall pass. |

Since you only have to vote 20% to count, it's likely that more than 200 people have voted, they just didn't hit your entry in their 20%. |

After the first 100 and certainly 200 votes, your score won't change much. I think people ought to vote on only 100 images and give those their full attention, with comments. Everyone would still get 100 votes and pretty much the same score.

I dunno about this "why vote" people complain excuse. There are always complainers, and whiners in any group more than 4. Sort of sounds like a cop out to me.
...."My second observation" is that there are 7 days to vote, so easy enough to take advantage of the beautiful day, and vote say at night or the next.
Lets say what it really is, the obvious answer. People just don't care so much about things that aren't directly related to them.
Somebody mentioned that the score pretty much stays the same after a 100 votes anyway, which I found to be pretty true so I don't have a huge motive to complain really. I just thought more about bringing it to the forefront of everybodys attention. Then maybe 1 or 2 people who don't vote can see the thread, sit back and rightfully feel like egotistical dill-holes. |

So I can take this personal. I haven't voted in a while and really don't feel the need to. Sorry I have a life. But for you to say I am an egotistical dill-hole just because I chose not to vote on the last 3 or 4 challenges is totally disrespectful

Whoa, whoa Rex, not true. I wouldn't call you that, or anybody for that matter. Its one of those if the shoe fits, wear it kind of deal.
Aside from that you have voted some 3000 votes more than you have recieved, thats awesome! And, while I was there in your portfolio, I also noticed that Bio part about the honest critique, thats good stuff. My hats off to you.

Well, I took three days, but managed to not only vote on every entry, but also commented on each and every one of the 450 entries.
Come on members, lets get our fingers moving, and vote...vote...vote.....
I know you can do it..... It feel so good, when you do this.

Is there something specifically wrong with that?
There are some people here that feel they should not vote in the challenges they enter because it might affect their voting, so don't. There are others that only vote the minimum 20%. There there are those that feel it is important to vote all the images in a challenge if you vote it. They generally don't vote challenges with huge numbers of entries because it is far to time consuming. I'm in that last group.

Wow, Im surprised to hear you say that steve. Mr. 38,000 votes cast, and 17,500 recieved. That's a stand up number, incredible actually.
Alright, so I stand down. <----I honestly didn't mean to be complaining just trying to MOTIVATE, I guess I really suck at it though. LOL. |

There are 784 images undergoing voting right now. At only one minute per image, which doesn't give much time for any in-depth analysis and comment, that means 13 hours for voting. That's nearly two hours a day for every day of the voting period. Geeeeee, somehow I'm not terribly surprised that not everyone gets everything voted on, are you?
Yes, voting is important, and I try to get through all images if I can, but if I spend all my time here voting I'm not learning a fraction of what I could be, and that's just as important to me.
It's all about balance!
