Congratulations, and best of luck for your future career.

Good Luck! It's a big step to take but I have little doubt you will be sucessful based on the photographs I have seen. It's obviously a passion for you and it's great to see you following the dream. When it's hard, just keep the long-term goal in mind :-) I think once you get past the hassle and rely on your camera for a living you will be great. Best of luck again and keep us posted on the progress.

way to go Larus, I have never regreted quiting all the stuff I studied for, I wake up with photography and live my day with it and I am happy to work as a photographer, it is unbelievable when you are eager to go to work every day. I have no doubts in you, you will do it!
Luckily for us in Germany you don't need to be certified anylonger to be able to work as a photographer, you can call yourself a photodesigner and do you thing.
Congratulations on such a step! Cuddles to you!

Wow! I am just sitting here overwhelmed... *sniff sniff*

I really didn´t expect so much support from you guys, you guys are awesome! And they keep asking me why I hang out at this site... Next time they ask, I´m gonna point to this thread. Keep em coming, but stop at a 100 cause by then I fear the huge smile on my face might actually get stuck permanently :D

I´ll do my best to keep you posted like Skiprow does but I am not nearly as good a pen as he is but I´ll try.

One of the hardest steps is already behind you now, the decision to go for it. I have a lot of confidence in you, I've told you that before. It will be a long bumpy road but you'll follow it through, I know you will. Good luck man!

Somehow I just wouldn't feel right having to call myself a fagmanna :)

Just beware of 'falling out of love with photography' when you are getting paid to do it.

After working as a TV cameraman for many years it took a while for my youthful passion for creating images to return :-)

That is actually my greatest fear.. BUT... I have always had a short attention span for hobbies, been doing most of them periodically since I was a teenager. That all changed regarding photography, I started out pretty slow but I have been snowballing down a very steep hill regarding my interest and I just can´t get tired of it. Well I might eventually but it´s not even on the horizon right now and well if that happens in 20 years, I´ll just go flippin burgers at McDonalds or whatever, I´ll tackle that problem if it comes along. Great advice though, appreciate it ;)

They have McD's in Iceland???

Seriously, you have some cojones to make that switch. That itself is worthy of congratulations, but I'm sure you'll do well too.

Whew...wish I can make such a decision too.

In the meantime, I'll see what happens to me this year and if something promising comes up, I will take a sabbatical in the school year 2007-2008.

In the meantime, a BIG congrats to you. You've said it all. Now, JUST DO IT.

(Back to my students's papers to mark.:( )

By all means Dude, I´ll call up National Geographic the second you tell me you are going to pursue this, they could use some good quality Librodo photos in that magazine of theirs ;)

Congratulations - I wish you all the luck in the world! Not that you need any luck. You are already a wonderful photographer, but this school and working as an apprentice will likely give you even more inspiration and creative ideas.

I also have to say congratulations to your Henny for being such a brave and supportive soul - you are very lucky to have such great support.

Way to go, both of you!!
