I'd love to be a fruit tree...
Flowers in the spring
Fruit in the summer or fall
Wood to do things with when you the time has come...

remnds me of one of my favorite songs...

Harpo's Blues
I wish I was a willow
And I could sway to the music in the wind
And I wish I was a lover
I wouldn't need my costumes and pretend
I wish I was a mountain
I'd pass boldly thru the clouds and never end
I wish I was a soft refrain
When the lights were out I'd play
and be your friend
I strut and fret my hour upon the stage
The hour is up
I have to run and hide my rage
I'm lost again
I think I'm really scared
I won't be back at all this time
And have my deepest secrets shared
I'd like to be a willow
A lover, a mountain or a soft refrain
But I'd hate to be a grown-up
And have to try to bear my life in pain
I wish I was a soft refrain
When the lights were out I'd play
and be your friend
I strut and fret my hour upon the stage
The hour is up
I have to run and hide my rage
I'm lost again
I think I'm really scared
I won't be back at all this time
And have my deepest secrets shared
I'd like to be a willow
A lover, a mountain or a soft refrain
But I'd hate to be a grown-up
And have to try to bear my life in pain

A Myrtle Tree! I was told a long time ago that the only place they grow is in Jerusalem and in Myrtle Point (where I was raised). Plus we had two 'large' ones in my back yard growing up and we had a 2-story treehouse...they're awesome trees! :)

I'd be one of these, I forget the name but there is a huge one in balboa park that we used to play hide and seek in the roots when I was a child. Yes,...in the roots...they're huge!!!!

My mom couldn't understand what I meant until she saw it....

Sadly, it's now barricaded for it's protection. But here is ME in a much smaller specimen elsewhere in the park.

And that's the SMALL one!!!!

Jaysus, Jason, YOU from San Diego too? I have a relationship with that tree that goes back back 50 years :-) It's a Moreton Bay Fig Tree, brought back from Australia long ago. They fenced it off because increasingly the hordes of people playing around it were tamping down the soil so tight it couldn't function properly.

I'd be that annoying tree that people keep trying to kill..

You know.. the one that LOOKS like its gone, but lo and behold two years down the road there are new sprouts all over the place and an actual tree hiding behind the woodshed because no one saw it in time to kill it.

Oh yes.

That's the tree I'd be.
