I've bought quite a few Photoshop books, but does anyone know of any PS publication (magazines)? I've seen some at Barnes and Noble, but they are all published in the UK and a subscription in the United States was about $160. Are there any American PS publications?
Thanks,
JD Anderson |

sorry to get you excited about a reply. I have no idea. I would, however, also like to know if such publications are available. Generally, magazines are better. All the photoshop books really suck. |

Sorry, Jason, but I would have to disagree!
There is nothing worse than paying $40-60 for a computer book, only to find out later that it sucks. That happened to me once. I looked at a book that seemed like it had some great tips and tricks and I bought it on impulse. I later found out that most of the info was available as free tips at various PS websites. I also found that some of their results could not be reproduced. They either left out some steps, or their examples didn't work.
Now I take advantage of Barnes and Noble and I make it a point not to impulse buy. I 'll look at a Photoshop book on several occasions. If on my third or fourth time to look at a book I'm still interested in its information, then I'll go ahead and buy it. I have books I've read over and over again and I still enjoy reading and learning. Two of my favorites are the Down and Dirty Tricks (I have this book for PS6 and PS7) by Scott Kelby, and the Photoshop WOW books. I'm looking forward for the release date of the PS7 WOW book!
Another book that is a little dry reading (no fancy tips with awesome pictures) is PS7 Killer Tips. This book doesn't have all the glitter and charm of other books, but the information is invaluable. Things that used to take several minutes to do in PS now take me seconds thanks to the great info in this book. If I'm working on lots of images, I can trim 40 to 50% of my PS time off with the info in this book!

Thanks, Gordon...
What I meant to say is "Are there any that you recommend?"
I know there are lots available, but I'd like to know what are peoples favorites and why.
As long as the book issue came up, what are your favorite PS books?

Photoshop User is a great mag. It's edited by Scott Kelby (author of Down & Dirty Tricks and president of NAPP). I've seen it at Borders and B&N. You get the subscription along with other cool privileges by joining NAPP (National Ass. of Photoshop Professionals). Go to www.photoshopuser.com to check it out.
