Well, if any image deserves linking, that one by Jemison is a great choice!

We're tweaking things now to find an optimal setting.

OUCH!!! Sorry about that. I was informed this morning by someone who just joined DPC yesterday that he had linked my image on Fark. That site seems to be a bit "roudy", but it has generated a few sales of the image. I am getting views at the rate of approx. 8,000 per hour since I noticed this!

Sorry folks.

It's kind of a double edged sword. You brough DPC down, but then again...you were FARKED! It's not everyday you get Farked. And you sold some prints. Well done. Just don't let it happen again.

Looks like it's about to become the 2nd highest 'most viewed' - currently at 84,124

Although it's got a long way to go to beat 'splash of color' at 204,762

Boy, that Fark.com is some site. I just found this interesting news article on the dangers of home-made alcohol.

Wondering just what is going on with the stats for my image. A few minutes ago it showed slightly over 90,000 views. Now it shows 88,719, and has been frozen there for some time now. Have the site administrators taken some action?

My guess is that, to reduce server load, they made a "static" version of your image's page. I.e., rather than having to "re-create" the page, stats, comments, etc each time the page is requested (as is done normally), the server is simply returning a "cached" copy of the page each time. (Hence, the view count displayed remains the same.) I would think this would greatly reduce the load on the server's database.

However, it seems that they are still tracking the stats for your image. If you go to the Most Viewed page, the view count for your image is still (rapidly) increasing.

Ahhh yes. That seems to be a sensible thing to do, and makes me feel better about the inconvenience to others here. Glad to see that the stats are still going, as well!
