This is my entry in the abstract challenge

the pattern was created by mixing some small amount of paint in oil. The difficulty in shooting this was to avoid reflections off the oil surface, which I haven't quite succeeded.

I am very happy with my score (if not quite with my placement...lol) in this highly subjective and difficult challenge.
I thought I would share several other shots of the same kind (I like them all and had a difficult time choosing the one to enter)

I like moderato and presto especially well.
Tell me, is the paint on the oil volumetric, or does it always swim on the surface?

Well, the paint is slightly heavier than oil, so if you let it sit for a long time, it will sink to the bottom. At the stage it is shot, part of the paint is on the surface, but there is some oil beneath, and as the oil is slightly transluscent, it creates very interesting variations of color and shape.

I loved that one in the challenge! Very abstract and beautiful at the same time. I also like the first 2 outakes as well.

Your "oil painting" reminds me of my "milk painting". The milk thing also gets you a huge variety of patterns and colors, but in a more subtle way.



I really like the look of the oil shots, they are wonderfully bizarre.

What colours did you use? Oil colours, or water colours?
