Guys I asked for some medium level photos to do (based on the examples) but I got 2 possibly 3 of the 4 that I got are way over my head. If anyone wants to try them PM me and I will send them to you to do. I warn you that they are way harder then any of the examples that I have seen posted here. If I do not get any responce I will be forced to send them back without completeing them. I do not care who can do it just that we DPC'ers did it.

Seriously if you cannot rebuild large portions of a photo from scratch you will not be able to do these.

Anyone know what I can do with this section of one of my files?

This is 100% crop from the original. If you have any clue how to restore his face and can do it... I can clone the face back into the shot.

shaver: You'd probably stand a better chance of getting volunteers if you posted versions of the images in question. That way, we'll know what we're getting ourselves into! ;-) Thanks!

yeah, after i posted that i went back in and fixed it. the color is off 'cause i forgot to switch it to a web color space too. whoops.

my third was a newspaper article that was water stained -- it really wasn't too hard. the fourth, though, is a school picture with a kid in a plaid shirt and VERY little of the pattern is left. oof.

PARENTS: have your kids wear solid colors on school picture day! lol

i tried and i had no luck. that's a really tough one. i would suggest you just do your best and work around it. maybe it's something they can do or can crop or something.

no one is expecting miracles here, so please, guys, don't tear your hair out. do what you can, but if you get images that you can't handle or situations that you just cannot deal with, just let becky know. i'm sure they appreciate whatever you are ABLE to do.

These are my edits. Let me know what you think--I could use a pat on the back...or a neck rub....=o....about now. (Also, as always, open to constructive criticism.) There are two others--one beyond my abilities that Mavrik is going to try--the other is a wedding photo with the kind of problems that need a little more patience than I have at the moment. (I think I'll go shoot an abstract and through it into the lion's den so I have something to growl about this week....;-))

Oh, and I want to say, that everything I learned about photoshopping, I learned because of DPC. Even from silly games of editing and adding other people's work into images--silly play! Goofing around has taught me alot.

KaDi, here is your pat on the back... you did a great job.

I'll give my hand a try for the wedding picture.

I'd lighten the lips/mouth a bit... otherwise it looks good.

The eyes a little too. I think there are small catchlights in the original that aren't visible in yours. Great job!

What a great project. I'm going to send an email as well. Very rewarding!

Just how much do experience do you need to have to do this? I want to help but I am afraid I will get sent some photos that I will be completely unable to salvage. Should I just go for it?

Sure, go for it! Ask them for a couple of "easy" ones and see where you can take them. If you get in over your head there are us folks to bail you out. Mavrik has taken one of mine that I know I can't do and Skyarcher is trying her hand at one I'd just gotten too tired to tackle.

Well, I went for it and sent them an email. We'll see how this works out.

I was just wondering...once you sent them an email, how long did it take for them to get back to you? thanks

Noway I can restore the man's face, but here's the very difficult image I've spent the last 6 hours on.

Here's his face.. 100% crop

Did they give you any other pics of him that you can work from to salvage his face?

did they send you another picture with his face in it? if so you may be able to overlay.

I just got 3 last night and am working on them. Not too difficult. Lets see how they turn out.

Take care.

No, I wish they had... but another pic of him may very well not exist...
