| It is so annoying to see your score raise slowly in increments of about .01 just to have it knocked back .08 with one vote. |

Wow, after tracking my score, a little obsessively for the morning, and getting a slow but steady climb, I just went from:
52 votes with a 6.2692 avg votes
to
53 votes with a 6.1698 avg vote.
I don't mind getting a vote of one AS LONG AS YOU CAN BACK IT UP!!! Leave a comment to explain why it's only worth a rating of 1.
Okay, I'm done yelling now.

Exactly...
The score I got that brought me down was a 2. I just don't see how someone can justify that low of a score without commenting...especiallywhen I have comments from people that say they left a 10. |

The people who give those ones are just giving them to drop your score because they think it will be high. They are not actually giving it to you because they think you deserve a one, hence no comment to tell you what is wrong.

Ugh, I really missed the boat in this challenge. I worried that my shot wasn't off centered enough, and sure enough the voters agreee with my worries. I actually really like the picture that I submitted, but I guess I'll just have to treat this one as a lesson learned. I probably should have entered the picture into the Free Study challenge instead. Good luck everyone :)

| I didn't enter this challenge and voted 25% now... promise to vote 100% =) So far I haven't found an entry deserving less than a 5, most are 6-8, a few 10s at this point. I am really shocked by this thread!!! I can't believe everyone is reporting such low scores! |

I don't understand my scores either. I thought I did a good clean job. I was in 5.xx yesterday, I disabled scores. Peeked again today in hope but still 5.xxx :(

Same here Rikki, started strong and then dropped all the way down to 5.1ish. Now:

| Mine started at around 4. It's now in the low fives with only 60 votes. It still could go south. Votes don't usually stabalize until over 100. |

5.7 (exatcly) on 70 votes. 4 comments.
I'm turning scores off right now, and I'll only monitor comments. Maybe for the free study I'll try guessing on the score based on the comments received according to the formula:
lots of so-so to negative comments = (-Inf,5.1)
very few nice comments = [5.1,5.8]
A lot of good comments = (5.8, +Inf) |

Thanks! I seem to have found myself on a high-scoring streak (Tribute notwithstanding). This is really gratifying, as prior to the Fantasy challenge, my top 4 had been unchanged for many months, and my previously top scoring image was from January 2005.
My Illusions entry definitely stands as one of my favorites from my portfolio. I think I'm soon going to get rid of the "4 most recent challenges" thing on my profile page and stick to a "here are some other pictures" thing. |
