Or maybe there's a lot of high scores and we're all keeping hush about it :)

The first-day slide is over (I hope). Time for the happy voters. |

You took the words right out of my mouth. Since Best of started, the voting has virtually been down to like 3 votes a day on Singled Out. :(

Good timing, I posted that yesterday and I just now got the chance to check back in. Scores have settled down almost completely:

AND my DOF is in camera, for your information thank you very much. Have gotten comments that it was in PS. I guess the commenters never shot a 70-200 at 2.8

You know...I just really don't know how to take some of the comments I'm getting. I actually got one just now (from a baghead, of course) that says something along the lines of "I like the shot of the (person in focus) but I don't think that the other (people) add anything to the shot." HELLO... if the challenge is singled out, and says to shoot someone in a crowd and use DOF to 'single them out from the crowd' then what on earth do folks expect??? If the shot was just of one person, it wouldn't meet the challenge IMHO. Oy.
Don't mind me...I haven't had coffee yet...but to wake up to that was just perplexing at best. |

Not bad, I just got a comment that says "DNMC" lol, I don't know why it doesn't cause it has everything there, well theres not a huge crowd, but it would be nice if they added something more in the comment.

I'm happy, but received a comment I don't agree with, didn't mark it useful either... that doesn't happen much, but still I appreciate the feedback. |

On my first two challenges I got the scores that I expected, but this time I thought I would do a lot better. My entry fits the challenge to a tee (IMHO). I look forward to requesting comments when voting is over because the comments I have received during voting are all positive and don't reflect the score.

Obviously, I don't know which entry is yours and it wasn't my comment, but I think there is a difference between "adding something to the shot" and "meeting the challenge." I would even argue that something in the shot that makes it meet the challenge can actually take away from or even ruin the photo.
Think of it this way: Take your photograph out of the context of the challenge. Do those elements that made your shot meet the challenge still add something positive to the overall impact of the photo? Nailing the challenge description perfectly does not a great photo make; and sometimes a great photo doesn't meet the challenge (but that's a whole 'nother thread).
I'd show examples, but 1) that might be kind of rude, and 2) it's after 8pm and I'd like to leave the office now and go home to my dog. |

Well somebody likes my picture, views out number votes by a 2 to 1 margin. I wish they would vote higher then. LOL
