It sounds more confusing at first than it is but once you try working through it you'll understand. Just use the example and substitute your own scores.
It's a ridiculously silly thing to be doing, keeping track of individual votes! For some reason it's just fun though. |

Joy, if you're interested, I have a spreadsheet I made (same as the one described in that thread, but I came up with it independently so it also has a "time/date" column). If you have Excel on your computer, I can send it to you, and you can just plug in votes and averages and get answers. PM me if you want it. (I do understand if you're not that obsessed. And just to warn you, sometimes I wish I DIDN'T know that I'd just received three votes that averaged 2.66.)

I feel your pain, started at a 7, dropped climbed back up and now am sitting at a whopping 5.022. Maybe I should have stayed in bed :-)

The voters are much nicer following server outages. I think the withdrawal and happiness to be back makes for nicer votes. ;)

Well, I have to admit. Mine is kind of boring. I thought it would be something a bit different, but it doesn't seem to be "catching the voters attention". Sadly, a 4.6.
BUT, I am not down about it. I just finished my Mother entry today, and have the highest hopes for it yet since my joining! (let's see how long THAT feeling lasts! LOL). My Shapes entry? Not sure it will work, but I know if it were me, I would score it pretty high. Just depends on personal preference again for that one. It's a pretty wide-spectrum contest I think.

Please, dont let it get to the 4.1 my garbage entry got!
Geeesh! You get one photo that rates 96% and its all a rollercoaster ride downhill from there! :)

but i do find it hard to answer bagheads ..

It started at 5 but immediately plummeted, somewhat steadily. I'm pretty disappointed since I saw a lot of very busy shots that really didn't seem to isolate a pattern whereas at least mine did that. This is the kind of photography I'm actually pretty good at (a few of my more abstract pattern-y types of shots are in peoples' favorites) so I'm sad that I'm doing so badly for this challenge. The one comment was positive though,
"Great color, and interesting shot." Thanks whomever you are. I think I'm getting a lot of 5's and then the usuall troll votes. :(

Hee hee. My second entry ever (first entry was dq'd) ranked something like 20th. Since then it has been mostly downhill for me with a few high points. Never anything that good. I have quite a few shots in favorites and was just recently added as a favorite for a newbie (it is my 6th time I think) but I score very low pretty consistantly. I thought this challenge I would at lease place in the top 50th but it doesn't look like that will happen. |

i also got some nasty comments, there was one with whom i lost my cool, and wrote him pm, that he should make his vote from 2 to 1, but should think what he is asking me to do is possible or not.
Anyway, i think he is better than lot of guys who just don't leave any comment at all to explain why they voted low.
