Everyone who has commented only has good things to say and I have got a couple "wows" even, but its one of those that you like or you don't and most dont :)

just a bit above you ben but damn... I put effort into this one because I knew the voters would be harsh if I didnt I mean my photo is not overexposed it is not underexposed it has pattern that captures the eye and I thought it was unique. Maby people are speed voting and not taking the time to look and the only comment i have points out what it is!! brilliant but I am going to move on. Today I am off to the city to get my next challenge ready.:) hope this one does better

maby I should have used rant for that one lol

I find people's perception of pattern interesting. I don't think something has to be repeated 20 times for it to be a visual pattern. To me it is just an artistic or decorative design. I guess that's just my perception of the word.

I'm being scored accordingly. ha ha

Please, dont let it get to the 4.1 my garbage entry got!

Geeesh! You get one photo that rates 96% and its all a rollercoaster ride downhill from there! :)

Hee hee. My second entry ever (first entry was dq'd) ranked something like 20th. Since then it has been mostly downhill for me with a few high points. Never anything that good. I have quite a few shots in favorites and was just recently added as a favorite for a newbie (it is my 6th time I think) but I score very low pretty consistantly. I thought this challenge I would at lease place in the top 50th but it doesn't look like that will happen.

(((hugs))) Good to see you again Melissa!

Thanks Sue! I'm back. I really just wanted the structure that DPC provides to my photographic urges. I'm trying not to take the scoring thing too seriously. I tanked in the Shallow DOF with one of my lowest scores ever if not my lowest ranking--I believe that honor goes to the Balance challenge where I placed second to last,if memory serves. I've actually scored much higher but ranked much lower. I guess it depends on how many entries there are in a given challenge and the overall quality.
Anyway, I haven't been back much more than a couple of weeks and someone has made me their first favorite (although I think that is a sentimental choice since he went to school in Providence and enjoyed seeing my photos of the city).

I did not read into the description that you had to have only one pattern. Oh well, on to the next challenge.

Just to share with you. I did it long time ago during summer.

A slight rise but still pretty much the same. I'm guessing a lot of "ho-hum" votes of 5 and move on. I really loved the color and relative simplicity of mine. Here is what I didn't enter. I'm the queen of bad portfolio editing, apparently.

BTW, Happy New Year everyone. I'm celebrating at home with a couple of my kids and and one kid's girlfriend. My husband and my eldest daughter are performing for Bright Night (Providence) with Big Nazo. I took some fun pictures, some of which will probably show up in my portfolio. Since they were indoor pics I don't think they'll work for the City Life challenge. I did bring my tripod but didn't get a chance to take any outdoor stuff. I should have tried but I knew my batteries were running low and I was risking a big frustration. It is snowing here in Rhode Island by-the-by.

i have voted 100 % on pattern and have not given anybody less than 4, i am feeling very happy. Sorry for low comments, i just do not think i can speak anything on technical side and as far as composition goes i have given votes.

Mediocre score, about what I should have expected though with my shot.

WOw, there must be a lot of ho hum voter's this time around. I just counted them up and I hav 10 10's, 9 9's (that's a little wierd isn't it :D) and 13 8's. I think most people did fantastic jobs in this challenge!

I took a long shot on this one. I am getting lovely comments as people love the photo itself, but dont think it fits the challenge well. I may be in agreement, but just wanted to step out of the box. Stepping out of the box is a 4.5..LOL..just so those that are thinking of doing the same are aware.

I may still go outside the box. I love competition, but I also strive to be different. I guess I just have to work on that "different" aspect being more appealing.

for my oops-ii i got lot of comments saying this is not OOPS, well the challenge descreption says 'photograph something gone wrong', now the image is definitely not oops but fits the challenge descreption.
some people do not see anything beyond challenge title, some take the decreption too seriously.
The problem is we can not argue with voters and hence 4.5 scores.
