Feeling relieved at a hair below 5.6, at least it's not gonna kill the ole average. Agreed it was easy to vote, did it all in one sitting though I'll go back to add more comments. A lotta 5s, kind of average pumpkins shot in an average manner (mine included) and then some that really rock, great staging as well as carving.
I'm celebrating not cutting myself in the creation process, as assisted by a decent Zinfandel. ;-)

Wow! Just finished voting and commenting:
You have rated 87 of 88 images (99%) in this challenge.
I think this was a fun challenge with some great entries! Good work everyone but I imagine my elation for a 5+ score is probably premature since that may very well be in the bottom (where I usually end up here at DPC!) I gave out a lot of high scores to those that appeared to spend time carving a unique pumpkin. Isn't what this was about anyway....the carvings?

Ha, the trouble is, I'm not sure I want a pumpkin sitting in my "Top 5" shots on my portfolio.
OK OK, I'm not complaining though...geez some people can never be happy. |

Well, actually, to quote from the description: "This challenge is as much about the pumpkin as it is about the photography." |

Ayup. I'd hope that a decent picture of a GREAT pumpkin will beat out a flawless picture of an average pumpkin. Let's see how it goes... The voters will have their way.

that second photo would get one of my higher votes - having gone through 80% of the entries so far.

Why do I have the feeling that this is going to end up similar to the Rubber Ducky challenge with everyone getting some sort of a Charlie Brown Pumpkin Patch ribbon? |

Tonight is the night for results - very few have posted their scores. You are all leaving me hanging ;-)
For me the results have been very steady from vote 65 on. It's only moved within 7 hundreths (0.0700) of a point for the last 165 votes. I've never seen that before. Maybe it's a good sign. I've got my fingers crossed.
See you tonight at rollover.

Challenges like this one, with shorter time-frames for entry, tend to garner higher scores. So a score thread doesn't tell us much....I think. I know I'm in danger of knocking another photo off my profile page, but not likely in danger of getting a ribbon. (Unless it's a clever one like those for the ducky challenge.) |

Well, it will raise your average vote received at least... :) |

Last blast...just in case you need a reason to smile or even LOL...
If you haven't perused the photographers' comments on their entries in this challenge, you're missing a lot of great stories!
(Also some pretty funny comments in there as well!)
Edit to add: You might want to start with this one....
