Hi all,
I have close to 500 digital pics from a trip my daughter took to Europe, and She has been after me for some time to get them printed (double prints, no less).
So, anyone know of a decent online photo house where I can send these 500 pics and get 1000 prints at good price.
PS. The pics are 1600x1200 in size. |

Thx everyone. Looks like my choices are whittled down ofoto, snapfish, and shutterfly. But I also plan to have my wife check Sams (she has a membership, mine lapsed). And I may contact a couple of them and see whats the best deal they will cut me for the job. I figure 1000 prints + SH has gotta be worth a little shopping around.
Anyone have an idea what the SH may be like on such an order? |

I just wonder if she would've shot this much if it was film? |

//www.clubphoto.com offers 4x6 @ 12cents, not the best quality (same as Walmart/Cotsco) but really cheap.
And they offer some cool products such as photo cookies, chocolates, etc ( //www.clubphoto.com/perl/app.pl/send_page?t=store/gifts/categories/atoz_product_list.tmpl&link_code=stsn_11 ) |

Not a chance. In fact, by the time she left she was so freaked out about running out space (I would have, and freaking her out was totally my fault) that she didn't even fill the CF she did have. She still had a respectable bit of space...once she got home. |

I'm very satisfied with the price/quality at www.winkflash.com. 12 cents a print for 4x6. You might actually be interested in their 4x5.3" (the actual size ratio of the digital image file) prints for the same price if you don't want do deal with cropping 500 prints to 4x6 or risk the random cropping that results from just having your digital images pritned without editing. Really great prices on larger sizes (29 cents for a 5x7, $1.99 for an 8x10). Also quick turnaround time.
And finally, with coupon code F73Y9GE4 you get 50 free prints and 99 cent shipping no matter how large the order is. Sounds like you could use the free prints and flat rate shipping ;)

For stuff like family snaps, I use Walgreens. I can do everything online and then pick them up at my local store, which is right down the street. No shipping charges, quick turnaround and they do a decent job.

So the cheapest we are talking about is about $120. The biggest way to save money is probably to go through the pics and weed out about 250 of them... |

120 bucks is not that bad. And I tried and tried to get her to "thin them out," but she has the stubborness of her mother and would have none of that. She wants them all.
Actually, winkflash with the 99 cent shipping is who I decided go with--I'm uploading to them right now. 1000 prints is probably going to have a bit weight, so I feel the flat rate shipping is worth an extra penny or two a print.
Thanks again everyone! |

Well, 1 month from now, ask her how many of her friends made it through all 500 shots...
...and here's another one of Notre Dame...
...and here's one of Notre Dame with me in front...
...and here's one of Notre Dame with me and a friend...
...this one I took by accident...
...this one I like...
...this one displeases me... |

Check your math - 500 x .12 = $60, and .99 for shipping, so $61 for 500 prints. (winkflash)
oops, i missed the double prints bit...i can't image getting a box with a 1000 prints in it.

I use DotPhoto //www.dotphoto.com Their 6x4s are 19c but you can buy bulk for less, shipping is fairly reasonable and they do a really good job for me. They have membership packages which cost from about $5 upwards but you get certain prints in exchange. I joined four years ago when they had smaller membership packages, dont know what they offer now, worth a look see though.

Okay, it's six hours later. Done uploading the 500 pics to the winkflash site yet? :) If you find it taking forever or otherwise overwhelming their server, I think you can mail them a CD... check their website FAQ for details.
Please report back and let us know how the quality turned out and Winkflash's turnaround time. I've used them many times for orders up to a hundred or so photos, but I'm curious to see how they deal with a job this big. |
