Greetings and salutations! Welcome MattO! It's my first challenge too, and isn't it exciting? I found it hard to sleep last night so I could see where the scoring was this morning. My photo score is still slowly inching it's way down, but ISN'T IT EXCITING EVERYONE?!? :) Thank you to that one person who made a comment, so far. It's already been very helpful! Have a GREAT DAY everyone! (Yeah, like I just woke up and don't normally have this kind of energy). Thanks DPC!

Well shoot, I actually spent time on this one, put a lot of effort into it and it's really low. Only my second challenge but still. And what I don't understand is why people vote low but don't comment. How am I supposed to know what's wrong with it and what I can do to improve if nobody comments?

This is not my first challenge but I have not entered anything for a year now (I didn't put too much thought and effort into my pics at the time) I am doing better now but I keep dropping :(
Hopefully It will turn around again! I would like to get 6.0 (or above of course).

If you don't get comments during the challenge you can always start a thread in the forum after the challenge has finished, ask for critique and ideas on your image.

I went back and looked at it and i think I know why it's scoring low. Last challenge my entry was too small. This one is big enough but after I resized it, the photo was not as clear as the original pic. Not sure what I can about that. I don't think I can change the size my camera takes pictures.

Oh well, I'll have my D70 by Christmas or shortly thereafter. Can't get here soon enough!

I was expecting the low score.... but I'm still totally amazed at just how low it is. I'll be lucky if this finishes over 5 - sheesh. I wish there could be a category of challenges only for people who like shooting and voting on grainy pictures! lol

I finally got ONE comment out of 80 some votes so far.

Apparently my photo really sucks.

And interestingly enough, the person commenting is hidden.

still a PB and Im still smiling, have a gut feeling this MIGHT hit a 7 before the finish..WHY? ... well it has been at 7 for ages then today it dropped to this so I feel a rising about to occur (insert funny comment here).

I'm sitting at a 4.2, have had 96 votes and only one comment. Apparently people like to vote but don't like to tell ya what's wrong with it lol.

lol phatphoto, Same here. This is my second challenge. I think the first would have done better if it had been bigger. I'm not sure what's up with this one. It thought it was good lol. The only comment I received told me it was a poor attemp at a still life and too much going on in the bg. Ummm, nothing in the background really. But OKAY lol. And considering the camera I have to work with, I thought it turned out really good. It's not like I have some 900 dollar camera- or a 300 dollar camera for that matter lol.

unfortunately they don't post what camera was used with each entry.

I dunno I'm sitting at 4.7 with 98 votes but only 1 comment! Saying I should have used macro LOL! Oh well its my first challange, my camera is pushing 7 years old, with 1.3 megapixels of Power:P But it is fun!

Mine dropped to a 5.98...

I really want to finish at a 6.3-6.4 or around there. I'm thinking I will. It was sitting at 6.2 last night...so hopefully it'll go up.

Hey, just checked the scores on the blue-ribboned photos of one of my fav photographers, Heida. And just to let you know, even SHE has received 1s and 2s. So maybe, just maybe, the low-scorers were thinking that my photo really belongs to her. Wow, this really means that you and I are as good as Heida. SWEET! *This kind of thinking is what gets me to sleep at night* :)
