As some of you may have remembered, I posted here a few days ago asking whether or not I should bring my camera I already had a photo pass to, well I brought the camera and really enjoyed the experience and the photos after the show and I want to do it again. I want to start doing this for some sort of publication. What kind of publications can I ask to be a photographer for so my images can get featured in print or online? (Im not looking to get paid, only to get my name out there. (but if they wanna pay me thats ok too)) Anyways, here are some of the shots from the show, The Nintendo Fusion Tour.

They all seem really good. I particularly like IMG_8507. Very Angus Young.

Angus Young is the lead guitarist from AC/DC.
Please don't say: Who's AC/DC?

Try this long thread from a while back - I found it very interesting and it has a lot of useful info for trying to get into gig photography....

man there are toonnnns of people that shoot those shows, and pretty much all of em get images like yours. not to say your's arent good but you gotta have somethin about em that stands out. shooting 'fun stuff' like concerts etc, most of the time its about who you know. 1st you know the right people, then you show them a portfolio of what you can do.
i'm not saying its impossible, but you cant just shoot a couple shows and then start workin for a publication, it takes a sh#tload more work than that. That and some images that will really stand out from the rest, and like I said, who you know. Start shmoozin with people. |

the bands, media people...i dont really know. Seriously the best way to get things you want is to just ask a ton of questions, which I realize you're doing here but I may do some research elsewhere. If you're at a gig it never hurts to ask anyone in a position of authority where someone you could talk to might be.
It's hard to do any of this if you don't have a focus first, so find a specific publication/band whatever you want to submit images to, ask around at a show, if that doesn work send emails etc. Landin somethin like that is way more about relations and a ton of busy work than about your actual photography, because, Iike I said, alot of people can do that. What alot of those people don't have, however is social skills or a drive to get somewhere. Just bother people ask questions and focus on the specific goal, don't take no for an answer.
I know that's pretty vague but it's the best I got, and it's what works. |
