Hi everyone,

My hubby and I will be doing a Volkswagen camper bus road trip to the Canadian Maritimes for a 2 week vacation starting this weekend. He wants to go surf fishing, and I want to .... well ...... guess what I want to do?

All suggestions about where to go and what to see are most welcome. I've been there before, and vaguely remember driving the Cabot Trail in the days before I became a photographer.

Our first stop will be in Wolfville Nova Scotia, where Acadia University is located, to visit our daughter who's just started university there.

We heard today that October is the best month there for weather. However, it's supposed to get pretty cold this week here in central Ontario, so not sure what to expect - weather-wise.

Thanks very much!

Nova Scotia is beautiful. Of course Halifax is a dream for architecture and landscape photography - hit the docks fo sho. And of course the valley.

Have a great trip :-) may potentially rain a lot!

PEI gets my vote. Red sand beaches and crazy red sandstone cliffs. Not to mention the tree-tunnel dirt roads and rustic fishing villages.

Why limit yourself to the Maritimes? Take the ferry to Newfoundland: it's better anyways ;-)

GoldBerry has a good point. Nfld has some beautiful stuff to see. The fishing towns on the steep slopes leading to the ocean... that has long been a desired destination for me.

Failing all else, it has many features similar to Iceland and that seems to be a mighty good thing for photographers.

Gros Morne National Park

This place is a must see if you are visiting Atlantic Canada. National Geographic Traveller recently voted it #2 park in North America. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of it's unique geography. Check out my website below - much of my work is from this area. I've had five trips there this past summer and have only began to scratch the surface. Newfoundland and Labrador in general is a great place to vacation, including the Eastport Penisula as mentioned by Lori and Mel. :)

If you make it this far, be sure to look me up.

I lived in Nova Scotia for four years, great place to visit! Take the highway from Halifax, thru Dartmouth towards Cole Harbour #207, you need to see Lawrencetown Beach. Great surf and lots of photo ops! Then keep going to Musquodoboit Harbour, (That's where we lived)Then turn right towards East Petpeswick. Follow the road to the end, Martinique beach. It's the longest beach in Nova Scotia. Bring a coat! Have fun!
