Can we have a thread going where everyone posts the pictures he/she took for the challenge they did not enter in? Or do people think this will influence voting in any way? |

I posted it in the bubbles score post, but we can start here instead.
This is the pic I didn;t submit. Didn't think people would know what it was (looking down into a champgne glass)

Having voted on all bubble entries, yours would get an average score from me. You'd be up against a lot of others with the same idea. Why didn't you submit?
Here's what I didn't submit for ROT:
and an outtake from bubbles (I didn't find it technically good enough):
Any comments welcome! |

1) Because it is just an "average" shot
2) I had submitted to the rule of thirds instead.
As for your 2 pictures, I agree. The first one, just doesn't have enough interest. Also it seems a bit dull in color. The second one just does not have any real focus so porobably would not have done too well. Had you zoomed it a bit and had greater depth of field it may have been more successful.

Wouldn't voting be better if we had a total blackout regarding challenges during the voting period. No threads. No score updates and comments, etc. Just the images, titles and voters.
I know this goes against human nature but it takes influences that shouldn't be there away. |

Here is a photo taken on vacation with my digicam underwater. That is my family and aren't they cute? :-)
Now that would have been a good bubble entry, don't ya think?

i took a really beautiful photo for bubbles last night...
"a blue ribbon for me" i thought... "this will wow them all" i smirked... "why won't the submit page load?" i wondered... "it's only 11:00, i've got another hour to finish my post processing, right?" i worried... "eastern! midnight eastern you stupid @$%#$^&!" i swore...
moron = me
happy = the guy who would have gotten the red...
(i'll post it later tonight when i get back home in a new thread so everyone can leave messages like "yeah... i'd have given that a 10" and "wow... you'd have won for sure" to make me feel all worse, i mean... better... yeah... that's it...
*sigh*

Unsubmitted at the last moment. Couldn't get the shot I was trying to get. The guppies wouldn't co-operate. I tried upping their wages, but no.....they kept escaping from the bubble!!

Got very inspired for bubbles and actually got six ready to submit. These were the two closest contenders
My current entry had the Wow value for me I was looking for but holding at 5.3 I guess my view was biased. (Gosh that has never happened before ;-))

I started selecting my pic too late, and missed the deadline trying to get this right for basic editing. Love to hear any feedback--I kind of like it, so if it works, I might submit it to contests elsewhere.

Kinda' cool & moody, but not strong enough for the challenge.
In retrospect, probably would have done better than the 5.0 my 3rds is at

For the "Bubbles" challenge, I wanted to go to a laundromat. Pour half a container of detergent in the machine, shoot the challenge, and never return.
I mention this, so that when "Bubbles II" rolls around one of you decides to pull this off. :D |

Wow! That's cool. A bit too centred possibly, but one nice shot. IMO, it would be perfect if it gave the idea of "floating away", as it is, it looks like it's "just floating".
BTW, how'd you do that, I mean, get the bubble to just float there?

I had two possibilities for challenge entries... neither of which really fit either category in my opinion, although I almost entered the top photo in the Rule of Thirds.

I had this almost ready but missed the deadline... I guess having a 13 month old does that to you ;)
I was not happy with the blow out on the watch but didn't "see" it while shooting.
How would it have done?

Thanks Ursula. Well, it was a bit windy and it was floating away, it was heading out over my house. I chased it with my zoom lens ;)

It was a toss up for me for the "From the Ground Up" Challenge. ANy thoughts on how this might do? I think I made the wrong choice since folks don't seem to quite undertsand where the ground plane is :(
