Argh.. I keep on going up then back down.. Ill be lucky to finish 5.5 at this rate.. Was really hoping for a 6 with this one.. I personally think it is high calibre photo.. But the voters speak the truth (most times) haha

Okay,
It's weird to have 10/12 commenters say that they like and or love the picture, and still be below a 5. Must mean that most people gave it a 4 or 5 and moved on.
Lets see, I have:
1 really like
2 love
2 cool
1 incredible color
1 I like it!
2 nice/nicley
1 good effect
and several people hated my saturation level (some while liking the picture), which i kind of expected i guess. It just makes me think that maybe it evoked a love it/ hate it response, which might actually be good in some sense.

Good luck! Because this is so subjective, you can submit the most technically sound photo and still draw 1-5. I can only keep striving to break out of the 4's but with very little comments, it's hard to know what to do differently.

Yeah -- but I can understand getting few comments (I've still got just 1) there are just so many to vote and comment on. Also this time there are a lot of similar shots. So after awhile it's simply wearisome.
My shot is a great example of one thats bound to get few comments. It's a pretty bland shot really. There's just not a lot to say. Sometimes getting few comments is a comment in itself. I know next time to try to do something more interesting. My shot is really just not that interesting, honestly.

I know the feeling - I am getting 1 & 2 without comments which is REALLY frustrating and then I am getting 9 or 8 also without comments but at least I know I must be on the right lines for those people!

I don't know. If you go back through some of the challenges, there are some people who got 3rd place with a 7.8
Many people have said that there are a lot of great entries this time, so the competition at the top is going to probably be very close. The top 20 may be separated by less than .5 overall.
