I am looking for a website that lets me customize and sell photos, pretty simple and not too expensive.
I checked out //www.smugmug.com/.

Looks like to access all the features you have to go with the pro packet of $99.95 a year, that's to get fully customized, shopping cart and password protection for your galleries plus some other goodies.

Is anyone here currently using this site, or used it in the past. Please give me your opinions.

Would also like info on other easy website hosting if you have real experience using them and think they may work better for me.

yep...............I really love it. You can password protect at the $30 level but to sell prints for profit you will need to go $99. Check out mine and if you want to see the $99 level check out a guy here Michael Newton and the link to his smugmug is: //micknewton.smugmug.com/
Mick was really helpful for me when I started on smugmug. Also you can try it at the link in my signature.

I also think the DVD backup ordering is a great option as well.

I've had a professional account for a while now, and I'm quite satisfied. You can check out my site at micknewton.smugmug.com.

They’re always adding new features to make the place better. You can get tech support and other help by going to www.dgrin.com.

If you sign up, give them my coupon code (qzDagz7w1S78w) and you’ll save a few bucks. More importantly, I will too. :)

I never forget a friend that helps me. Where have you been? Haven't seen you online in a while.

Smugmug......>Very good site. Easy to work with and fast uploads. You can put a picture up to 8mb (I think) in size and unlimited uploads.

Oh, I've been around, in-n-out, off-n-on. Work and other things have been keeping me too busy lately. I haven't been able to take any photos for a while, and I've been taking a little break from voting too.

I've had a pro acct since May 04, really like it there and its companion forum dgrin.com.

Galleries in my sig, I think. They're always enhancing their offerings and no web development fee ever. Quick tech support for questions too. Family-owned biz, absolute pros.

Same here, had a pro account since early this year (thanks to laurielblack for sending me there!). The galleries on my website all link to my smugmug gallery site.

Great customer service, they are fast and professional.

Also, so far, every client that has purchased prints from there absolutely raves about the quality of the prints.

I'm a SmugMug user, too - it's really easy and so easy to share pictures with family and friends.

I don't use smugmug but I can vouch for the quality of their print co. (ezprints.com out of Georgia). They utilize Fuji processing and it is dead on. I am VERY impressed with their work. AND fast delivery, reasonably priced.

I ordered from MPIX and was (sadly) disappointed. ezprints beat them hands down. Once I get the business moving more I think I'll open a pro acct with them and have them do my prints for me (save me that extra step). I am that pleased with ezprints.

I got prints on Endura Kodak paper back from MPIX yesterday. They looked very nice. I had ordered No Color Correction just to see if I would get the same as what I saw on my screen and what printed out of my Canon printer. The photos from MPIX were very close, but there was a slight redness ( these were portraits). I let my boyfriend who knows next to nothing about photography pick between them without telling him which came from the lab. He thought my photos came from the lab and he also noticed MPIX's slight redness. This may not really be a reflection on MPIX though because I have not calibrated my computer screen. But it makes me feel pretty good about my $99.00 Canon printer. It seems to give a nice soft touch to portraits. I will send the same photos to Ezprint now and see what I get.

Wooo Hooo! I am now a Smugmug user. Anyone care to check out what I have done so far can click here My Smugmug and feel free to comment. It is just in the draft stage right now, just seeing how it works. It's really easy and uploads fast (unless you accidentally try to send a huge tif file like I did)
Mick, if you're out there, I put in your code like you asked me to , to get the discount. Thanks.

Anybody else want to join go here
//www.smugmug.com and enter my email address vcbowen@bellsouth.net and you will get a $5.00 discount like I did.

I am also suppose to be a member here at DPC now too cause I paid my dues Friday, but even though I am a " verified " paypal user, they still are taking three days or so to clear my bank. This is very upsetting to me cause my bank is super fast. Paypal has some problems that aren't apparent on the surface. I have ran into two of them. But everybody seems to think they are terrific.

EDIT- Darn, wouldn't you know they are doing maintenance at Smugmug tonight, sorry to anyone who may have tried to check it out, should be up and ready by morning.

So I from the reading here and before their site was down its looks like a really good site, but since its been down all day long how easy is it to customize your own account...the design I mean. I am looking to have a pro account.

SmugMug is up and running now.
I plan to create an account there.
Free 7-day trial...so if you hate it you can cancel.

I need to update mine to a pro account.

Question for lhall and lynnette, I notice that you two have a "main page" on your sites. Is this part of the pro package or are you linking to another site outside of Smugmug?

So far the only thing I don't like is the way smugmug automatically puts the word "home" after your name. It's good to have "Home" on the page so they will know it's the home page, but it doesn't always fit where they have it.

spelling edits aghhhh!!!!
