I got a couple of snide remarks from users about me posting so much but not being a member! So, cause of my pension, I paid for what I could afford!

And here I am! A 1 month membership!

My plea: I'd love to be able to comment and rate member-only challenges. I spend my whole days on DPC as it is already... :)

Judi, I just looked at your website. WOW! You have some REALLY nice work there! I don't think you should be allowed to win, you will bring some serious competition to the members challenges. ;-) Best of luck!

That's really nice.

I'm kind of surprised at the fact that most of the responses are from users in countries where $25 isn't a huge amount and yet have not indicated why they are not in a position to find that $25 themselves. When I first started following the thread I was expecting more responses from those in countries where $25 is a much bigger deal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting for a minute that no one in the wealthier countries experiences financial difficulties which make $25 hard to find/ justify. I know we have many who experience financial hardship too.

Just... it's all relative...

FWIW, I don't think the remarks were about the frequency of your posting but about the fact that you were requesting the admins to make changes to the site. And in all fairness, you did ask for opinions. :)

I am withdrawing my plea as there are those who need this more than I do. I can always save my change at the end of each day to come up with my renewal which is not even due until May 2006

I actually just signed up a few days ago but would be HIGHLY interested.

I deserve it because:
My photography skills have plenty of room for improvement and this place can help! I want to get envolved but I'm a poor college student.

I'm a poor college student. I'm very active and a dpc mentor. I have been working on getting cash for a membership for awhile and still only have 15 dollars.

I got one comment on my submission in the long exposure challenge that said if they were a member they would have given me a 10. I was like quick let me buy you a membership
But on the real side, those of us who can help should help. 25.00 is really nothing compared to what this site has to offer. We all need to support the arts because it knows no color, race or religion, it touches each person in a different way, and it can communicate through all languages.

For my part, I agree with Alienyst regarding this not being about photography skills, but I would be happy to see any pics posted because there may be quite a few consolation prizes (comments) given out.

Also, I think everyone can make a case for why they need a membership - I would like to hear why someone else would pay for it. There are many folks on this site down on their luck and I, for one, would like to help them out. You don't have to go into detail - poor college student or 3 teenage girls or just lost my job (but not because you brought beer, beavers & bichons to work) - those are good examples. I don't want to see anyone beg at all and for my award, I will consider PM's as entries as well if you don't feel comfortable airing your problems publicly.

That said, if I get one PM that threatens Godzilla, Woody, or the Angry Villager, you'll be targeted I mean disqualified. :)
