I can't believe how hard it is to find one of these in a real store - not one store I have called (I used a 100 mile radius to include Albany NY, Springfield MA, Bennington VT) has one.
My conversation with Ritz was amusing:
Do you carry hot shoe bubble levels?
We have three tripod models that have hot shoe bubble levels on them.
Oh you do? Why is there a hot shoe on the tripod?
So you can level the tripod.
A hot shoe is where you attach the flash to the camera.
No it isn't. It is where you mount the camera to the tripod.
Excuse me, I am sorry, but you are wrong. The hot shoe is the mount on top of the camera where you attach the flash unit.
Hold on - Dave, isn't the hot shoe level on the tripod? (in background, yes, we have three models with them) Dave says it is on the tripod. Are you sure you know what you are looking for?
Are you sure you should be working in a camera store?
Hold on....This is Dave may I help you?
Well, I was looking for a hot shoe bubble level and apparently you don't carry them...
We do - we have three tripods that have them.
Ok, I really don't want to argue with you, but I think you are confused. There is no such thing as a hot shoe on a tripod. The hot shoe is usually on the top of the camera and it is where you mount the flash unit.
No, we don't carry such a thing. I don't believe they make anything like that. All our hot shoe levels are on the tripods.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
Whatever happened to knowledgable employees?
EDIT for typos.

Dave? Dave's not here.
This reminded me of the Cheech and Chong skit.
Thanks for the laugh.

LOL - I'm reminded of the Monty Python "Dead Parrot" skit! (In addition to the "Dave's not here..." skit by Cheech & Chong)
Customer Services has become a sad state of affairs, hasn't it? In fact, I've decided that anymore it's just an oxymoron.

There are some on ebay that might be a little cheaper; didn't check the shipping but it's a place to start as well. Good luck! :)

That's under tripod accessories not camera accessories. What were you thinking? That this can be attached to a camera? ;oP

Thanks for the links - I know I can get one online. I was looking for a store that had one I could go get today. I was looking to use it today, not a week from now. |

haha, true, it is under tripod accessories, but atleast the description says it mounts effortlessly into the hot shoe of any standard 35mm SLR camera.

Print the page and take it to the store so they know what you're referring to.

You can tide yourself over with a small level from a hardware store and some double sticky back mounting foam. I've done it.

I took your advice, bear - went to the hardware store and asked for "double sticky back tape and a small level" - the kid at the counter told me "we don't carry that stuff, you need to go to the camera store, they carry 3 tripod models with those."
Bwahahahaa. :P
