I would have imagined the numbers be better placed where the lines are now located in order to suggest where a viewer first tend to look at an image. Except for the "2" all are placed at the perimeters. Perhaps many do start looking from an edge, inward. I focused on the 2 initially.

Also it will depend on whether the image opens in a full size window or not.

My eyes first look at the whole image, not looking for detail -- then, within a sec, the leading lines isolated the 2.

It seems to be determining where a person starts if taking the image a piece at a time, but I don't do that.

Another thought is that the lines do the same thing those tests given in an eye exam. Not the color perception tests where we see numbers (or not) but the one with the horizontal and vertical lines and the doctor wants to know which lines are darker than the others. Those are always the same darkness as well for me. But I suppose if some lines, say the top and left, appeared darker the eye would be pulled to the corner of intersection.

*shrug* -- I've never given tests like this much validity.

It's really interesting to see how many of the same numbers come up for other people - when I completely missed them at first... LOL

I think this is a great tool for learning where to place your primary and secondary subjects... Will you be tallying the results and posting them after a while?

Thanks.
