Which photo have you put the most time into preparing for the shot, do-overs and photoshop work combined..?

I think this one has got to be mine:

Unfortunately it didn't do as good as I thought it would. Oh well, I like it..!

This one is definitely the one I spent the most time on, but it fared pretty poorly overall.

I guess the image didn't come up. Try again.

It all depends on how you see it. I don't "setup" a photo very often. Most of the time, I like to go out with my wife on the weekends and try to find the perfect pic for the challenge. For some it took 2 or more trips lasting several hours.

You just need the last set of numbers at the end of the link and use the thumbnail button when you post to a thread.

Probably this one. Between creating the wallpaper and gluing it to the cardboard, creating the framed mouse photo, buying/cutting/staining the wood molding, getting the lights right, moving all the furniture and carpet out of the room... you get the idea. I set this whole thing up two or three times before I was satisfied with it.

Me too, I try not to set up shots, I like to try to capture a moment or event. Sometimes I have to go back a few times. I made more trips for my current entry in construction. Either the sun wasn't right, it was over cast or I was running late and didn't have time to stop.

I'd have to say this one, making the "village" took a long time but it was a lot of fun. Now that I look at the shot, I can see where it could have been a whole lot better

Without a doubt! Many shots, many times picking up and fixing the cans, getting the cat interested.
It was worth it, fun in the end.

I've spent maybe 20 minutes tops including setup, execution, and editing on the top photos in my entries. And considering only one broke a 6, I guess they show it.

Spent close to 3hrs for this one.. broke mirror, place pieces in front at different agles using paper, then placing other mirrors on sides to get side views...and since I was the only one at the time, I had to 'guess' everything was ok, start timer, run to the point and click.. come back and find I stood taller or shorter than expected .. and you can guess the cycle goes on...

My only light source in the room was a candle positioned directly behind the glass. I took so many photographs to try to illiminate the light reflection in the front of the glass. This photograph was a real learning curve for me.

It took a long time to fill the canoe with water (and broke it due to there being no water pressure coming from the outside..so including the time I still need to spend fixing it...)

Easy question:

Granular challenge reject: Collecting sand and shells...sorting colorful shells...buying supplies...setting up...changing and setting up again (many times)...photograhping...editing and starting over. The entire process of obtaining this image took many days. Then I decided it was terrible and took the shot I submitted in less than 10 minutes! Wasn't expecting a good score either way, but the learning experience was tremendous.

For photoshop work.

Early in my photography career learning about light and composition. Took 100s of shots to get this one.

This one took about 4 hours to set up. I rigged a bunch of plastic cups with water in them and holes in the bottom (all of which had to be the same size), suspended above a cookie sheet, and a single light source coming through the bars of a high chair as a backlight. Not as easy as it sounds.

no doubt this one took the longest time:
8 hours drive there and back(yep, same day!), about half an hour of editing.

This one in terms of sheer post-processing time:

In terms of observation, preparation and research, this one:
