Inspired by the impressionism challenge, how about a basic editing challenge that the outcome looks like a painting from any style.
Could be interesting to see how creative we can get in camera. |

Funny that this suggestion comes up now. The photo I entered in the Lighting challenge was inspired by a painting that was bought by a museum in Ottawa way back when I was a student there. There was a big hubbub about it, because it cost a lot, I forget, a couple million? It was simply three stripes. That was back in the late eighties or early nineties, I can't remember for sure, my dimentia, you know. ;-)

That's a cool abstract. Reminds me of a Rothko painting. |

Yes, that would be great! As long as we include all kinds of paintings.
And make it "basic editing". Otherwise, it's a photoshop filtering contest.

I can't remember the name of the artist. I think he actually used rollers instead of brushes. :-D

this photo (I think) not only looks like a painting, but it depicts an artist's studio:

This was taken with my Nikon 995 in the Spring of 2002, during lunch with a friend in Kennebunkport, ME. I later decided to apply the watercolor treatement, and loved the result. As fate would have it, the unmodified original was lost.

How about this one:
I've always kinda liked this one, it was just a quick'n dirty pinhole test, but it came out wery expressionist-like.
