I'm going to bed sister. Gotta wake up for work. Don't spook yourself out too much. Also, when your going to bed tonight, make sure you close your closet door Toe. You might hear some noises coming from it. Haha!

Couldn't find a ghost outside my house (actually, I would have been quite freaked if I had), so I created my own:

This shot was for the abandoned building challenge. This setup an execution was completed in total darkness with a long shutter time. Very similar to Zoomdak's shot in this thread. The interesting thing about this shot is there are actually 4 REAL GHOSTS captured in the image. I have highlighted the doorway. If you look closely you will see what appears to be 4 people standing in the arched doorway at the front of this house. The shutter was on a tripod and open for 8 seconds
My daughter (the model of the fake ghost) and I were very spooked when we noticed this in the shot ... very scarey!!

Let's assume for the sake of this discussion that ghosts do exist. I'm still confused why people think that cameras could capture a record of them. It's no mystery how digital and film cameras work. They record whatever light is in front of the lens - just light, the same kind we see with our eyes. They don't record some additional special light from a ghostly plane that only they can see. They record exactly what we see.
If you see something in a picture that you didn't see when you took the picture, it seems like it could only be caused by one of the following three things: 1) a light flare that the naked eye accounts for better than a glass lens; 2) a mechanical defect that is reproducible and should be fixed immediately; 3) something was added to the picture later.
But as always, I could be missing something. Does anyone have any evidence or reason to believe that ordinary cameras and lenses (not infrared ones or nightvision, etc.) are able to record anything other than the natural bands of light that are seen with the human eye? If cameras have capabilities beyond the human eye, I'd honestly like to read about it. Thanks!

Here's one I created:
//www.sabphotography.com/building1h.jpg
The building is occupied and was dedicated in 1902 as the Naval Hospital here in Great Lakes. There are numerous stories about a nurse and I think Army Colonial who died during a TB epidemic and now haunt the place.
I created this to make fun of a local historian who said his neighbor "saw" stuff in her minds eye, in the building from the civil war and was always coming around searching the place and bugging people. He tried to buy the picture from me to authenicate it...I couldn't keep the lie going so I finally told him I made it. He was pissed. lol
Note...look in the window on the left if you can't see the ghost nurse...her size is wrong for the window but still ok. |

Forget the scientific explanation ... what does your gut tell you when you look at the picture? There has been no altering of the shot, the shot was taken in complete darkness, and I am pretty certain that there is nothing wrong with my camera.
I am not a real believer in the supernatural (if I was, I doubt I would have been standing in front of this house in the middle of the night), however, I look in the doorway of this shot and I get a chill from what I see. It is possible that whatever this is, whoever this is, was standing there in plain view but we did not see them because it was dark.
The camera caught them because of the long shutter time.
If nothing else it makes for a good story and a chance to keep posting my abandoned building shot :D

Ok just a reminder BRACE your self for the unexpected..lol |
I talked to the guy who has access to the stuff, actually to his wife. There are two sets of this custom made stuff and one was in use at sea in the Pacific when a freak storm hit and washed about half of the electronics overboard. My friend was sent to see if salvage was possible. He determined that it was useless as the sea water would have ruined it. But he was told to get it all back stateside cuz they didn't want any bad guys to find it and cop the design, like it was some kind of secret weapon or something. Wifie thinks he gone for at least a month.

Coolhar, im dying to go back to prove that the place is haunted. If you have this equiptment and you are interested, try to get here, it will be fun hunting for the paranormal. Even if its a month from now, I don't believe Toniann's photo had a ghost in it unless we get a number of images with hazy or ghostly subjects in em. Then, I might believe. If your equiptment could help, it's worth a shot. Ghost photos are rare. |
