...is a pure joy. It's the first Free Study I got to vote on, since I haven't been around for too long. Anyhow, it's so much fun and truly amazing to see so many different styles of photography, executed to perfection.
My goal is to vote and comment on every single entry, but I'm not sure if I'll make it. Oh, it's the thought that matters, right? :)
I have a few candidates for ribbons in my head already, but I might be all wrong, as there's so much to choose amongst. Best of luck to everyone! |

Couldn't sleep last night so I've already done the 20% necessary, but I'm going to try and vote on every one, preferably without bouts of insomnia. |

This challenge has justified my reluctance to hand out many 8s 9s and 10s in other challenges: there are a lot in the Free Study, and differentiating between them uses up that top end of the spectrum. Some great pics. |

There are really awsome images in this challenge, although I'm a bit disappointed that I took the challenge subject of "study" literally and tried long and hard to get the right focus/light/setup etc etc it took me good part of 4 days and few hundred shots of the same thing! Silly me :( I asked some knowledgable people to choose one of the images that I was happy with and most agreed with my favorite but here's the score:

137 votes out of 507 entrants, would at least think people who entered would vote? C'mon people start voting :) |

Gurry, 5.4 isn't too bad. Don't forget with 500+ entries, even if everyone votes, chances are by now that most people wouldn't have voted on all 500. I'm pretty happy with my voting progress - I plan on voting on all of the images, but I've only voted on 130. Give them time. But I agree, I hope that we get at least 50% of the people voting. |

Well, it might be that ur subject is not that interesting! Even if it's a flawless pic.
I went to a place I've always wanted to shoot, and at the time of the day I knew it would look awesome, and shot till my memory stick ran out of space! The results so far are very good for me (my highest rated pic so far, and soon to be highest rated photo for my camera):

I thought I had a real killer of a shot in there, but so far I've seen about five shots that I know will top mine, however optimistically I look at things, and I'm not even halfway through.
There have to be a coupe of 8's at least, no?

edit: I mean finishing score, not my vote.

Free Studies have to be my favorite challenges.
I love going through them, seeing shots that mean something to the individuals more so than just going out for a "wow-factor" shot. It brings out the soul of the person behind the camera more than in any other challenge.
Now to go clobber whoever just gave me a 1 or a 2! (LOL)
Watched mine drop from 7.0321 to 7.0064 with what I think was only one vote.
Not gonna' be another Free Study ribbon here after looking at the competition this time. |

This is my first challenge. I've been at DPC for a while now but never really made the time or attempted to shoot a photo for a specific challenge topic, but I went out shooting and came home to a "Free Study" challenge so what the hell =)
I'm almost done voting for this challenge...a lot of great photos in this bunch. |

Also my first entry and I an very pleased with the comments and my rock steady score. After viewing all the shots I wanted to shrink into a corner but the comments and the scores have boosted my ego a bit. I would be honored to finish in the top 100.

I am sure the scores will be high, which means that my middling 5.6 score, while just around my average, is 50th percentile or lower. That's sad, because its a good shot, but you do need to look at it more than a few seconds to actually see what the scene actually is. A mistake when there are 500 plus entries.
I'll never learn ;) |
