You obviously haven't seen the rubber ducky challenge!

A challenge like this one has certain "obvious" answers, so yes it's usual. A LOT of people zero in on the obvious. So we see a lot of letter shapes made by trees, for example...

I don't mean photos of the same things, there are just one anf the same photos, fliped, or just met once again. it 270 photos in the challenge and pages 6 and 7 are full of the photos met on pages 1-5. how i should vote them, both or just one of them?

If you've voted on an image, it shoudl not show up again in the "unvoted" category. I did notice a few images that seemed to be nearly identical though, I felt a lot of deja vu in this challenge. Just assume yer seeing each one for the first time and slog onwards?

I also noticed a few duplicates when viewing (before voting). These were not simply similar ideas/photos. These were exact duplicates - same title - same image. I viewed them start to finish, so the random shuffle did not occur.

Some of these photos may just be very very similar. Look carefully, you will probably find that photos that look very much the same, or just flipped, are likely diffrerent shots.
Also, if you walk away for quite a while, leaving the site open, when you return your session may have timed out. In that case, your vote may not register for the first photo you vote on when you return, and you may see this shot come up again in the voting. That's normal.
If you find that there are two photos that you are *SURE* are exactly identical, then request a review for disqualification.

When I first saw thie movie challenge and saw all of the oranges and the title....I had never even heard of it. I recently got HBO added to my cable and guess what was on....you guessed it...Clockwork Orange (right title?)...I just about had a heart attack when I watched some of it.It was pretty risque for TV I thought, especially for the 70's (again on US tv). Anyhow....what I was really wanting to say....:)....people like me, that may not have heard of something or necessarily understand the photo that is presented for the challenge, judge the photo on technical, composition, eye-catching, etc. details. That's one of the reasons I never vote a photo down for the title....I give the benefit of the doubt to the photographer....because "I" may not have 'gotten it'.

I believe "A Clockwork Orange" was a 1971 theatrical release, not originally on television. Today's HBO is still "Cable" TV, not regular broadcast TV.

If I just click the >> link without voting, I often get the same photos -- the >> doesn't simply scroll through them. It often leaps around and repeats. You're bound to see the repeat displays of any photo you haven't voted on yet. There are many alike but if your seeing multiple "exact matches" while viewing, this is probably what's happening.

Or maybe...just maybe it's another DPC trick like the Ansel Adams shot that was placed in the Ansel Adams Challenge, to see how people were voting or if they would bomb Ansel himself. A very clever ruse, I might add.

I just hope that I gave that cat that I saw three or four times all 2's across the board. Only kidding of course.

Ahhhh but conspiracy theories abound.............

LOLOLOL...

That wasn't the purpose of the "real Ansel" entry. Some of us were genuinely curious how Ansel would fare in his own challenge, and Drew and Langdon were kind enough to accomodate us and include an Ansel original. We were delighted to see he did so well, considering that it was a pretty poor reproduction of his image that we posted up to the site :-)

I went through all the photos before voting on them as well - I found that even if I wanted to look at a specific photo closer and opened it in a new window and closed it again - when I went to the next page of photos some of the previous photos were "shuffled" and I would see them again. I think this is done on purpose to keep things as random as possible. However - if you voted on a specific photo it should not show up with the other again.

Of course you are right - I'm kinda amused the person before thought it was a tv show... I would have thought just about everyone would have at least heard of what is widely perceived as Kubrik's signature work given the controversy it generated.

I've only seen bits of it.... and yep, it's pretty intense :).

Well my rubber ducky AND cemetary photos were absolutely unique...

I guess, I can take pride in that though I don't place as high as I like...my entries were amazingly unique in both.

:)
