A few weeks ago, I went with my kids on various treks to the Great Salt Lake. We saw many things, but several things really stood out as being particularly interesting and exciting. We explored the north shore of the lake, first travelling along a forbidden road--a railroad maintenance road--to Promontory Point, where we saw strange landscapes of mud and salt flats and old railroad landmarks.

We also visited the Spiral Jetty, a magnificent and engaging art installation created by artist Robert Smithson.

I have a lot of photos of the journey, and I hope you like some of them. Sorry there are so many! I hope you'll help me find the good ones. I'd appreciate comments on any of them. I did a lot of experimenting.

First, the Spiral Jetty shots:

Now some shots of the old railroad system that used to go across the lake. It still does, but the old trestle has been replaced by a gravel road and causeway. You may recognize one of these as my LINES entry.

. . . . . .

Finally, here are some images of the Salt Flats themselvesm and the Great Salt Lake:

Thanks for looking!

It's all good. The best ones were the railroad, especially the B&W. The only one I did not care for was the one that you used the liquify on the sky. Hey that rhymes I'm a poet but now I know it.

My kids just wanted me to mention that both places were "awesome!" They had a great time, and endured my camera well!
