I have been editing some photos I took in Victoria BC last September and came across these. What do you think?

I think they are lovely. I hope to have some success in getting some butterfly pics of my own this year!

I particularly like the colors in the first and last ones. Very rich and beautifully detailed! :o)

nice photos, but they all appear slightly blurred - did you shoot them handheld? I took my own butterfly shot recently (handheld)

but it also came out also slightly blurred.

By the way, today in San Diego has been a huge invasion of butterflies (Santa Ana wind perhaps?) - and of course I don't have my camera with me!

Man I gotta' get some better equipment.
I have only taken 2 that were even halfway decent, and are of no comparison:

It was open in September. Not sure what's happened since.

Yes they were handheld. We literally stumbled on the place and I didn't have a tripod with me.

I love butterfly conservatories. I took this one at Niagara Falls.

What lens are you using?

I was using the Nikor 24-120 1:3.5-5.6 AF-S lens with Vibration Reduction. Handheld, unfortunately, but the VR helps. 1/100 second @ F/5.6 and (Ugh) ISO 1600. It was pretty dark.

Yup thousands of them went through all day today...It was like a snow storm. spose to be going on for a while (days or a week)...but none stop long enough to get a shot of em.

Painted Lady butterflies migrating up to Oregon/Washington. I read somewhere they can do 30 miles an hour and go about 100 miles a day. The rains and green fields has caused the huge number of them that we see.
