Not good to post your submission on threads. Better to wait unitil the voting has ended

You aren't supposed to tell us what your submission is... it's generally regarded as in poor taste to do so by many. ;o)

Yeah it is "if" you know the difference I guess. That doesn't stop people from posting other places like photosig during current challenges. And lots of people from this site go there to look at images too. I think a policy of not posting an entry anywhere on the net during a challenge be adopted.

Agreed. I like the fact that you don't know whose photo you are voting on.

to get the backgroud white it pays to light it sepereately making it about a stop over. The correct term for this Challenge as I see it is High Key photography where all the tones are light, it is common practice with this style to have a smidgon of a black tone as well. |

To answer your question. I believe that if it is taken that way then it is legal.
Quoted under the Basic Editing Rules.
Any modification done inside the digital camera itself is considered acceptable for challenge submission.
But then I am not site council. It is always good to read the rules before submitting. I usually read them everytime I submit. Less chance of a DQ that way.

I was sort of defending you, seeing as you had just joined on Feb. 6, 2005. Hope I didn't sound otherwise. :)

ok this isnt my submission but what do you think of it? i think it would go by the rules. what do you think? BTW, there is no photoshop or any processing on this at all, it's all just how i took it. the only thing i did was crop it

i would like to reiterate that there is no post processing except cropping, and for this discussion, i dont think that hardly is relavent.

I'm afraid that photo wouldn't do very well. To me, it just looks like a snapshot with blown out exposure.

I had the same question Wes. Thanks.
Kinda related though, if brightness and contrast are adjusted to acheive this effect during raw file conversion, would that still be legal? (even if detail is lost in the background?) |

That's just way overexposed. I'm thinking the picture should look normal but the tones should be "naturally" light. Maybe I'm wrong. The trick is how to set up the light to get enough definition within the limited tones to make a pleasing picture. |

I thought the challenge was for a "primarily" light subject on a white background? Maybe I read wrong..but a totally light/white photo would get low scores in my opinion. |

This kind of photo would get a low score from me also. It looks like you just brightend the whole image in Photoshop.
