I don't shoot every hour or even every day.
It took me about 200 shots to capture my self-portrait. Probably at least that many shots for my breaking ground entry. The kind of shots I like to take require a lot of tries!
And when I go out shooting, I like to shoot the same subject at many angles, sometimes bracketing the exposure. I usually fill my 1 GB card, and sometimes the 3 256 MB cards I carry too. (Though I shoot in RAW, so that's only a couple hundred shots.)
So 10,000 isn't a lot! |

Maybe I should pace myself...I'm at near 2500 and I just got the poor thing for Christmas. I had over 10K on my Kodak from May to December of last year. Maybe I have issues. ;)

so, what is the life expectancy of the D70? I am hoping that if it's to be soon.... it happens before my warranty runs out! :)

EXACTLY after coming off film, and trying to average 240 images a month, there is no excuse for not taking advantage of digital. basically, if you have a decent workflow definition and storage mechanism, shooting 100 images an outing is nothing. it gives you so many more options, as well as memories...
these were all shot in the same afternoon

I had the Sony 707 up until Sep 2004, had it for almost 3 years. It made it to just shy of 30,000 frames. Had to replace it quick. |

Considering the cost to develop a roll of 24 exposures is $8.95, at about 10000 exposures it would cost you $3729.
Digital is GREAT

I am right at about 19,600, this is in a little less then a year. I should go over the 20,000 mark today, we are going on a whale watching trip this afternoon :) |

you got that right! actually, you can tack on another $6 to get the cd at time of processing, unless you want to spend another hour hand-scanning 4x6s

I shot nearly 800 pics in one day when I met up with BradP in San Diego. If it weren't for the limited battery life of the Olympus E10, he might have done the same. |

No, no... *Twenty* thousand on my 20D in four months. It's something impressive to say, anyhow. I'm pretty proud of it.
I don't take my camera out every day and I do sleep on a regular basis. But I do a lot of sports shooting. My husband countered my neat-o record with the fact that I don't print every picture, but I do print about 70%, at least as thumbnails. Then maybe 10% actually get printed as prints that are 4x6 or larger. |

Wow, you've literally spent more on prints in the last four months than I have on my camera.

I literally just got mine off the UPS truck 15 minutes ago, having the shutter mechanism replaced (along with several other things). My D100 was at 34,000. |
