I guess one could say I am just a little excited about this! On February 12, myself, crabAPPL3, gordon, kennyt, and RHoldenSr (along with his lovely wife Penny) are all going to a private ranch near McKinney TX to photograph a group of 4 tigers and 1 lioness. We get to be RIGHT UP CLOSE to these beautiful creatures and take photos of them in their habitat for 2 whole hours!!! I can't wait!!!!
I hope you all have a fredmiranda.com login, because you'll need one to see these amazing photos taken at the first few trips made to this place. The link is here for your viewing pleasure.
We will definitely be posting up some pictures after this outing. I hope mine turn out halfway decent, the mascot of the high school where I work is the Tigers and I want to do a print for our school.
I'm all giggly and excited about this trip! Plus...Lord willing and the IRS doesn't change their mind...it's right after I get my tax return and a new 70-200 f4 L!!!!! Woo hoo!!!!! |

The one thing Laurie forgot to mention is that there are still some spaces if anyone is in the area and is interested.
I make no promises to your safety or otherwise if you do this though. From the pictures I've seen we get up close and personal to these magnificant animals, closer than typical visitors do and hence you are responsible for your own safety (they are still on the otherside of a fairly substantial fence though!)

Ssshhhhh..... we want to be on the front row! LOL ;o)
Actually there are a few spots open, but I'm not sure how many. So if you are going you have to get on the list through the fred miranda link I posted earlier ASAP. Group sizes are small and limited. :o)

Hmmm...if there are any tigers with a philosophical bent there, they may still prefer tuna. |

Laurie, your gonna love it. I did that a few years ago at a Ranch near Denver. What a rush. I have a few of them posted here. Take extra CF cards so you don't run out. |

Laurie
I did not realize you were so excited :)
I did not say too much because I thought Tom was limiting the groups to 5 guests each: Quote "We will have to limit it to groups of 5".
I sure hope we don't upset the Tigers too much :) LOL
The hard part is going to be the start time:
Quote: "Shooting time will be at 7:00 instead of 8:00am . we will meet for breakfast at the Whataburger in Mckinny Tx . Take exit 40A off of 75 north. Try to be there at 5:30 to 6:00 am"
Should be a lot of fun and look forward to a great day :) I hope Penny continues to heal fast so we can enjoy the day.

I was just saying Tom should know what is good for the tour and not aggrivating the Tigers to much :)
Your up late Laurie :)

OK, I'll jump in and be the first to post some shots from the tiger shoot and the outing to the Ft. Worth Zoo yesterday. I had a great time getting to shoot with the other DPCers (RHoldenSr, kennyt, Gordon, and crabAPPL3). The zoo was a bit damp but otherwise fabulous too. I didnt' get a group shot of all of us together but I know a couple of them did. My shots from the tigers and the zoo are here (animals) and here (non-animal). Enjoy! :o)

Through the folks at this forum... you can sign up for another trip in April if you'd like... it's right in your own backyard, too (in McKinney). :o)
Thanks y'all... I really had a great time and I'm learning more and more about this whole dSLR thing each time I get opportunities like this!
