We have had challenges for ribbons winners and for non ribbon winners - how about a challenge rewarding those whom have been adding and participating for a while.

Say those whom have entered 50 or even a hundred challenges.

Just an idea.

Oh my gosh. A Master's Challenge, A Master's 2 challenge, A Best of 2004 Challenge, several 24 hour challenges, some 48 hour challenges, Monthly open challenges. And now a challenge for the over 50 crowd. I can't take the pressure!!!!:)

Hows about a challenge where you photograph a suggestion for the next challenge, best challenge photograph wins a new challenge of their photographed suggestion which was shot in the first challenge :D

hehe

Would it be under "advanced basic rules", "basic advanced rules", "special rules with writing in the picture allowed"? I like the idea but it would have to be in duotone, with only 3 objects allowed in the picture, juxtaposed with young and old and something in between set in a landscape and be innovative.!!

Let me correct you. There have not been challenges that were specifically for ALL ribbon winners. I have 1 ribbon and haven't been included in any Invitational challenge yet. ME FIRST! :)

Even though I'm not eligible (only 48 challenges entered so far) I'd support jonpink's idea. To me, it would be a way of saying that winning ribbons is not the only way to contribute to the dpc, that the "regulars" are an asset to the community as well as the ribbon winners. I hope that doesn't go against jonpink's intent.

Nope that is pretty much as I intended it! Well said :D

any idea what the numbers are for 50+ and 100+ challenges entered ?

I'm at 118 so far...

I do like the idea too :)

I have a lot of respect for photographers that enter as many images as possible, thus proving they can be consistantly good and occasionally great over those that are just occasionally great. It's quite a thing to rise to every challenge - hope that you keep up your resolution Jon :)

Next challenge: Booo to Spurs ;)

I like the idea. I have entered 41 so far and there are 2 entries in current ones. Would be hitting 50 soon. I guess I can call myself a regular since I joined in May 2004.

Wow. I just hit 100. I feel old. and regular.

I like the idea.

I've entered 129 so far, and 100 of those I should have skipped. Oh well keep trying.

How about a challenge for those who have been excluded from all the other 'special' challenges (disregard the 24/48hr challenges) !!

closed group challenges are a BAD idea, they should be dropped altogether

Nah, can't go for that. I'm glad you entered those hundred, you do quality work.

I agree with that. But we've already gone several steps down the road so it may be too late.

I like them. I mean, they're not replacing regular challenges that include everyone. There's still a members and an open challenge every week. To me the invitational challenges are interesting (and I've never been included in one). I think it's interesting to see what a specific group of people will come up with. I'd like to see more, though they wouldn't necissarily be based off ribbon numbers. It'd be neat to see them for certain age groups or locations, or for people that make a lot of comments, or for something really really random. I'd also support more simultaneous challenges for the whole group, but having some for specific groups is fun too, as long as it's never in place of a normal challenge.
