I know there are some great photographers on this site, and with greatness comes respect. I have a lot more respect for some ppl more than others just from their abilities. My favorite photographer on this site is heida. I just love her style and the ps techniques she uses. She gains the "most respect" in my book. So what do you guys think, who is your fav, and who do you give the most repspect to? |

I canât answer, âwhoâs the bestâ for me. I have seen so many wonderful photographs here from so many wonderful photographers. All of which have different motivation, backgrounds, and training/experience. I have had the opportunity to speak via PM with a few and others I have never had communication with. Some, we differ in views and others we agree. But when all is said there are many BEST photographers on this site and I respect each and every one of them for the work and person. |

Well, I'm the best, of course!
haha nah...I don't know who's the 'best' I think everyone who's good puts their own individual spin on things.
I think heida has a lot of great subjects to work with and loves 'tinkering' in photoshop (which makes her work so great) -- Alansfreed love shooting sports and has access to the sidelines of the best team in the NFL (opinion there) -- DrJones has great models to work with and a deep passion for his 'field' of photography -- dsidwell has great ideas and a great passion for what he shoots.
It's just so impossible to take those 4 (just 4 for examples sake -- not cutting anyone short) and compare and say who's best. It's like apples to oranges.

I have favourite photographs from this site, but there is no way I could single out one photographer as standing above all others here. As Deapee says its like apples and oranges - it's impossible to evaluate Drjones fetish work against Sidwell's landscapes, Heida's forboding imagery or Librodo's national geo calibre portraits. Just step back and marvel at them all. |

Too many talented people to pick one but a number spring to mind instantly:
Gordon
BobsterLobster
Arnit
Imagineer
Geewhy
There are others who appear again and again in my favourites list and consistently get high scores from me but these 5 are the ones who just spring into my mind immediately.

Personally I would narrow it down to these five even though there are so many more that I like and this is just my feeling on this particular morning in December. I will follow their names with a photo that I adore of each of their work.
These are not in any order!
Kiwiness
Technically superb, amazingly consistant. I have the pleasure to view his newest photos on a couple other sites and let me tell you, he is doing amazing stuff.
(cant believe this sneaked outta my favs!)
JJbeguin
Tones, tones, tones. I love JJ's tones! But what I really aspire to is his composition and ability to convey a message.
GriGriGirl
Her portraits are gritty, vigorous, and beautiful. I will let her photographs explain who she is...
(like a painting...)
Arnit
Forever imaginative...
Dsidwell
David Sidwell, the Ansel Adams of DPChallenge...
Others way up there on my list are Geewhy, Jacko, xion, Heida, timj351, and kosmikkreeper; all of who could have their own thread about their works. My theory is that in order to get good at photography, you look at bad photos and learn from mistakes, look at good photos and learn from the greats...then you go out there and express yourself. Please take time to look through all of these people's portfolios and photographs as they are all wonderful and inspiring.

It is hard to say. They all have differing styles that I like so much. On one hand there is jmsetzler, kiwiness, Gordon, Blurry, and then there is heida, grigrigirl, but then I really like jjbeguin and zeuszen. The list could go on and on⦠|

I have no favorite photographers, only favorite photographs.
That said, looking at perhaps the only objective measure of who each person here thinks the most of, among those on my Your Statisically Favorite Photographers list who have received at least 10 votes dinn rates the highest, followed by qnjt and kirbic.

Well I wasn't going to pick favourites - but seeing as I only have a small group of photog's on my favourites list I might as well put them down.
zeuszen, yurasocolov, grigrigirl, kosmikkreeper, Imagineer, heida, DrJOnes, librodo, dsidwell, jjbeguin, kiwiness

Without doubt davenit. Stopped submitting here, but you can see his images here. Of the ones who are submitting, I'd say heida with 9 7s score after each other.

WOW ... is all that can be said about Daven's stuff. Off the charts. A shame he isn't still around here - somebody offer that man a free membership or something :)!

Each one of these folks have a unique way and to me an awesome style that I enjoy. You guys rock!

"Best" is so objective that only you can answer this question for yourself. That being said, here's my personal list AND reasons.
1. Vipermike - 3 ribbons in 3 tries. 7.09 average.
2. Rackat - 5 ribbons in last 9 entries, two 8.0 or better. 6.69 average.
3. JJBeguin - hard to argue with 21 ribbons.
4. Kiwiness - 6.75 average. 10 blues and 15 ribbons total.
5. Heida - 11 ribbons, eight 7.0 or better in a row (current streak) and twenty challenges in a row of 94% or better.
6. Dave Sidwell - 16 ribbons, 6.16 average.
7. Jacko - 15 ribbons, 6.22 average, one of the members of the exclusive "two blues at the same time" club and serious badassness.
8. Librodo - 6.22 average, 5 ribbons and best portraiture on DPC by far.
9. Dr. JOnes - 6.6 average, 2 ribbons, and the absolute cornering of a market. (not to mention never scoring lower than 5.8)
10. (tie) E301 for the best picture on DPC. BobsterLobster for winning the Master's Challenge with an 8.2.

The one most likely to amaze me is jjbequin. Someone once said (don't remember who) if you sent 20 photographers into an empty room, jj would be the one to come out with a photograph. He make amazing images of some of the most mundane things!
