I was just curious say you had like 20 photographs and you wanted to take them somewhere and get them printed to make up an album, where could you go to do that? Target, walmart, places like that???

I want to give that gift to my Mother for Christmas. I know it's sort of corney but this is my first year out on my own and the money's tight.

Basically, the images I want to print, I've added a small border to them like 10 pixels or so. But I want them printed on color paper (not even sure if that's possible). I guess I could just have them all printed individually and them put them onto a album of colored paper.

Thanks!

Most of your 1 hour photo labs do digital printing now and it's relatively inexpensive. You should be able to get 8x10 prints for about $2 in most places. I have never tried Walmart, but I have used Sam's Club. Sam's club has a problem because they can't stop their machines from auto correcting your prints, which is no good if you have already done the post processing that you want.

My local Eckerd Drug is the BEST of the local digital printing services. If you have one of those close by, you should give them a try.

I know the Super Walmart's have a digital photo printing service, but I don't know if they actually compile them into albums for you. I'm sure they have all the needed pieces and parts to finish it off though.

Man, I miss Walmart nowadays, living in Europe.

You might think about having the pictures uploaded to //www.mypublisher.com or to //www.shutterfly.com and get them printed in a photo book... I love the one I got from mypublisher and it's a really nice alternative to the standard photo album.

edit: the prices are pretty reasonable too!

Incidentally, you might check out the following link; //www.clubphoto.com/, they have some pretty cool stuff, and the print prices seem not bad.

Cool guys, thanks for the quick response. I do have an Eckerd close by I think I'll give them a try.

I'm sorry for my ignorance here, but how big should a photo be to print a decent 5x7? I know there's like 150 dpi and 300 dpi or whatever, but I just don't know what will print out a nice overall photo as far as size of the original image in pixels.

Thanks.

I don't know if walmart will do an album, but the 1 hour Fuji processing is pretty good from walmart. Around here, it's $.26 for 4x6, $1.50 for 5x7, $3 for 8x10

Most 3 megapixels will print a (close to) 300 DPI for a 5x7, which is photo quality. Printing can go as low as 200 DPI (in my experience) and still be really good.

edit: so a 2100 by 1500 crop would be good for a 5x7

I've been going into one of our local copy shops with my photos ready to print on a disc. Get good quality, they print the size I want and they don't alter colours. Cost is about the same, or slightly cheaper than our local camera shops.

perfect -- 2100 x 1500 sounds great. Gives me a little room to work with my 4.0 mp.
