1. You write as if you are upset.

2. A reply to your comment is not spam, unless they have sent the identical message to a large group of people. Please do not label people's actions inappropriately with negatively-charged terminology.

3. I don't see how sending you a PM either constitutes a lack of respect or "violates your privacy." If you don't want to receive messages from DPC members, then set your email/spam filter to block them all. Otherwise, a PM is a PM, and you can either respond to it or delete it, but to go and change your votes in response seems illogical and petty, and is a violation of the rules IMO.

4. Labelling people with inappropriate pejorative adjectives is not allowed by site policy -- please stop.

I would agree with this, very well said.

I was referring to the term "moron" -- actually it's a pejorative noun. Sorry for the grammatical faux pas.

I said spam is a "negatively-charged" term ... do you know anybody (besides Hawaiian chefs) who gets all warm and fuzzy when they hear that word?

Taking a wild guess, I would say he was refering to this statement.

...but maybe you are right, morons will be morons regardless if during the challenge or after.

Edit: I was right! Just too slow. :)

....

4. I labeled people in geneneral not anyone in particular, but if I'm not allowed to label some of the 2 legged breathing creatures on this plannet as idiots, so be it. We all know the truth anyways about this.

3. I consider that after I spend a few minutes evaluating an image and commenting 100% constructive with a naive intention to point out a few aspects that may be leaking, and I get a PM with words like "Some people comments just come way out from left field, and this was one of them." to me that's disrespect. To you may not be to me my time is verry valuable, and I thought I give away a few minutes with the intention to be helpful.

2.As for PM being spam or not, maybe I don't know, I come from a country where they don't speak english all day so maybe I used a wrong word, what I tried to say whas unwanted email from someone I don't know and from who I didn't ask anything especialy not to insult me, call it whatever you want. So please excuse my lack of knowledge in english. When I see a foreign man trying to speak my language even if by mistake says stupid things I try to undestand what he is really trying to say, not judge his grammar, but I can understand why some superior beings... nevermind

1. Ok if you wish I am upset and so sick of everyone coming to me and telling me I should not use adjectives and such and that I should be always nice and smiling. As a matter of fact I am so sick of this that you can from now on consider this my last post in this forum, you can continue your shiny happy lives without my adjectives, you can all be continously nice to eachother. And also continue to encourage people to only make "wooooow" comments, and discourage the honest and constructive people here. I go for honesty and I see less and less of that here. So I'm outa here you no longer have to follow me in the forums and lecture me on my adjectives, this is my last message sorry if I couldn't keep it adjective free.

Bye

Why do you hope he does not leave? If he feels the need to insult every American that visits this forum by grouping us all into one category of 'superior beings' then he's a racist pig.

And to the racist: If you want to insult Americans, don't use our language to do it.

Don't get me wrong -- there are idiots in every country in this world. There are stupid Americans, stupid French, stupid Africans...but to generalize a group as a whole is just racist and ignorant.

We certainly do not have complete free speech.

For the record, anyone who wants to PM me about one of my comments should feel free and encouraged to do so, during or after the challenge.

This is a learning site, and if someone wants clarification or assistance with a suggestion I've made, or simply to express their opinion, I welcome it.

Just don't expect me to change my vote, because I am very certainly not weak, and able to contain my compulsion to change my vote even if i know them personally.

I'm sorry, that statement is a direct violation of the Patriot Act. Please edit your post.

The only thing I can't do is yell "fire!" in a crowded theater...

If I want to call someone a moron...I most certainly can....

That's the beauty of the U.S. of A. and I am not giving up that right to anyone....

I'm sorry I insulted any nation whasn't my intention but some Americans are arrogant and expect everyone to speak perfectly and not make any mistakes. I whas only on this site missunderstood 100 times only because I don't speak perfect, and nobody ever try to think "wait maybe this guy made a honest mistake, and he wanned to say..." It's so much easier to think every mistake is a crime. So be it.
This realy is my last post I just didn't wanna leave like a schauvinist nazzi wich I really am not, I hope you all belive it, then if you don't so be it.

I for one think it is absolutely ridiculous...and BTW un-civilized, to browbeat this participant for having an opinion...

Americans certainly don't hold the patent on arrogance (even if we excel at it), and corrections aren't always directed at your language skills. I've been corrected PLENTY of times by people all over the world, and I have a pretty firm grasp of English. The defensive remarks you're seeing are more about human nature than language or nationality... anything that can be taken as an insult probably will be whether you intended it or not.

As opinions, you are free to acknowledge or dismiss the statements you read. It seems silly to me to take drastic measures as a result of an honest opinion (changing votes, quitting the site, etc.). Agree or disagree, but move on and don't punish others for speaking their mind. This is supposed to be fun.

its called the ENGLISH language, not the AMERICAN language. Just wanted to clear that up with you.

But it's OK to "browbeat" (with a reduced vote) someone who responds to that opinion with their own opinion?

I try to make allowances for the vast linguistic diversity this site enjoys. If you are not a native English speaker, don't you want to know if you unwittingly use a term that many people offensive?

Having your language "corrected" doesn't make you a bad person; it makes you a better English-speaker. Kind of like a how comment about my lousy lighting, boring subject, or moronic composition is supposed to make me a better photographer ...

You already yielded that right insofar as your participation in this site is concerned. This site is privately owned, and as such is subject to and governed by only the rules and TOS to which you agreed when you registered. Your participation here is in no way "protected" by the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

Damian, properly speaking, there is American English and British English. Both are derived from Middle English (admittedly the first through the second), From Old English, and so on. The word "colour" is an excellent example of these two different, though immensely similar, languages. So, his insult, assuming that is what it was, could have been in Britsh English. You know those crazy brits :)

General...I will preface my remarks by telling you that I have seen your work and can only aspire to be to be as good...

But I am quite taken aback that you would suggest that PMing is an acceptable practice...

I re-iterate my only point (an I have made several...some coherent and others not)...if you have to explain your image...you deserve a low score...

A picture is worth a thousand words....not a thousand words and a couple of PMs...

Correct my friend, correct. But as they say, its all english to me...

wah wah call it what you want -- don't generalize the American people by saying they're all 'superior beings'. I'm not going to start a political debate here or talk about amendments. It's called being curteous.

No, I don't think the language is called American -- but it is 'our language' that we speak here.

In all honesty, I don't consider myself a racist -- as I don't generalize any action or any hate that I have toward one or many individuals based on age, sex, race, religion, skin color, wealth, language, or sexual preference -- and it offends me GREATLY when others do!

As far as this site being private and the TOS...you are right...

But browbeating is not only foolhardy but is absolutely couterproductive to this site's aspiration...the betterment of and joy of photography...

And opinions are the pulse of this website
