Into the lightby pikwolComment: This photograph accomplishes something very difficult. The viewer is pulled to the focus in two stages, first up the ramp to see small clouds newly lit, then left off to the rising sun. Both are accomplished with line. The break in planks above the leftmost vertical post sends the wandering viewer back to the sun. |

"Instead of printer, package contained hawk. Would not buy again."by LERtasticComment: Inventive and humorous. Shelf, chair, and computer hold the viewer on the expression of the unhappy purchaser. Sharper focus of subject's head draws the eye to the scratches, ensuring the laugh. Low perspective tilts the CD shelf, adding disarray that the viewer attributes to the purchase gone wrong.
As good as any superbowl commercial gag. Professional quality. |

Designer Diamond Necklaceby fotomann_foreverComment: A beautiful model with bad makeup. This is the photographer's responsibility, not hers.
We once used polaroid backs for just this situation. You have a digital camera with even greater capabilities. The model's makeup and the lighting must be adjusted during the shoot.
Shadow side eye makeup is correct, lighted side is not. Low and high values, and the colors, should be blended to look natural. The forehead and shadow side face need makeup and fill lighting to smooth the skin. Lighted side is perfect. The drape forms a shadow line that changes the shape of the near breast. |

eBay: Two Bargain Lights, Endless Possibilitiesby lovethelightComment: Good concept and setting.
Photographer figure is too difficult to pull from the dark treeline. Model is not comfortable in that crossed-legs pose, appears unbalanced. That is the photographer's responsibility, not hers.
Use of line is excellent, but the focus on her too distant, and so too small, face is a problem.
Model's plain clothing makes the viewer wonder why the equipment is in use. Is she the photographer's assistant, standing in for the model, in order to get the lighting correct? Too many questions; the story is unclear. |
