I s'pose it does no good to rant about the score. If you want to score well at DPC, you have to spoon feed the children! I'll just have to deal with that.

The product in it's natural environment would be around a woman's neck. Period. Now, you're just making excuses.

The potato shot was completely different... and if you read my message right then you would realise that the ToS comment was covering the fact that some of the challenge shots are basically "product" shots which fit in with eBay (mine included) - remember - you bought it on Ebay so the product type shot should be one you would expect to find on eBay. So i was saying that this can't be one of those so it has to be a "natural environment" shot (like this,or this) or (like the potato one) a "reaction to purchase" shot... This isnt any of the above, and so i was trying to help you understand why i gave this a sub-par score of 4... not to mention the technical problem i put up.

Dont be bitter about it all, i was only trying to help...

What a silly question! One answer: Grow up.

The challenge is not about a necklace. I don't see you criticizing the blue ribbon shot that the 4 men are distracting from the potato, assuming you can even see the potato!

I suppose I should give the simple answer: Because, I chose for her boob to be out.

I didn't realize it had to follow eBay ToS. The blue ribbon shot certainly doesn't look like a shot that would be on eBay.

I just dunno... my eyes are drawn to the necklace, perhaps I'm just calloused to nudity? I think those that can't get over the breast, are childish, period.

I guess I should have just placed the necklace on a plain white background, flat-lit it and scored better.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, because I'm not going to bend over and take DPC-style. I'll take the ones, but I will create what I like and what I am good at.

I think it's really sad that a large number of voters are automatically scoring down shots simply because of nudity. This particular shot isn't outstanding in my opinion but it is not horrible either and it definitely does not deserve the 1s, 2s and 3s.

I think that if someone is offended by nudity that much, then it may be better if don't vote on it in the first place (similar to how people who are against guns should not be jurors in related cases for example).

I don't know about spoon feeding the masses, but 'early years feeding' certainly appears to be at least a secondary goal of this shot... heheh. if I was a baby, I think I'd be getting the munchies right about now...

PS on a serious note, the make-up seems a bit odd to me. Lipliner? Fade the eyeshadow?

Hrm - there is a red cast to the shadowed side of her face on my screen, it also seems as if you are just putting in nakedness for votes as such a photo is not allowed in the eBay TOS so cant be an example of a photo you might use to buy an item on eBay, nor does it demonstrate the product in a "natural" environment...
Not saying that it isnt a nice photo, the composition/pose and lighting is good, but it just doesnt feel right in this challenge to me.

Necklace? Where?

There is a necklace in the pic?
Excellent lighting, nice skin tones, good pose. Not too sure about the drapery prop?

Gratuitous (and strangely asymetrical) nudity! Alright!

Got a bit of a shock when I opened this up at work!

It's a nice shot, but I really don't see the need for her to have her breasts out.

OK, tip. My biggest issue here is the fact the models face looks quite heavily made up, then that stops at her neck, making her look very weird (orange face, white body).. The fact you have decided to have the model with her tits out is neither here nor there, doesn't add anything to the shot, likewise it doesn't take much away. Overall a pretty average image. 5

Still, I guess you did this to get a few views.

A beautiful model with bad makeup. This is the photographer's responsibility, not hers.
We once used polaroid backs for just this situation. You have a digital camera with even greater capabilities. The model's makeup and the lighting must be adjusted during the shoot.
Shadow side eye makeup is correct, lighted side is not. Low and high values, and the colors, should be blended to look natural. The forehead and shadow side face need makeup and fill lighting to smooth the skin. Lighted side is perfect. The drape forms a shadow line that changes the shape of the near breast.

ok, i'm sorry, but all i see is boob. it distracts to much from the necklace in my opinion.

The product doesn't seem to be the main subject of this shot. Something else is distracting me from the necklace. :)

I know this will sound childish, but "what necklace?" - maybe it's just me but I find her nipple overpowering in that it distracts from what should be the subject of the photo, the necklace. A nice photo though but for me it's hard to say whether you bought the necklace or the model on eBay ;)

I think if you wanted to bring attention to the necklace, you may have wanted the model to be clothed, but, it is a very well done shot.

The lighting here is kind of plain and doesn't really flatter the necklace or make it shine out like it could
