I'm sorry, but I'm not able to recognize anything definitive as to the subject. (Cigarette butt?) There is some interesting tonal ranges in the image, but it failed to communicate its message to me. Then again, I may be dense.

The makeup on the model seems a little overdone.

Nice idea. It would be nicer if the ghost images were a little more evenly spaced, although that's easy for me to say, seeing as I don't have to set up the strobes to capture the damn thing. Perhaps going for three as opposed to four images of the falling king?

I find this rather amusing, especially given the one star difficulty level in the paper (which I'm sure was deliberate). The depth of field could be ever so slightly wider on the puzzle, but that's really nitpicking.

I know the feeling. You might have slightly overdone the "gritty black and white" look on this one, however.

I think you needed a sightly faster shutter speed to truly freeze the action in sharp focus. As it currently stands, you are in a kind of "no man's land" between not really blurry enough to imply motion and not sharp enough to stand out as a captured instant in time.

While the vibrant colours certainly catch the eye, the composition does not really work for me, and I find it to be a bit of a shoehorn for the challenge topic.

Technically competent and well executed, but probably submitted to the wrong challenge.

Nice idea and generally good execution. The layout of items on the desk could be improved, however---the dead space at lower left draws my eye. Also, the background seems almost "too bland," if that makes sense. Certainly the shadows on the backdrop make it seems as though the wall is rather close to the lottery winners back / front of desk.
