...Refreshmentby cryingdragonComment: It's a bottle of water... and a blue background. Although it meets the challenge, I don't find it interesting in any way. Did you find something interesting about the texture? The shapes in the bottle? Is there a story to it? A strong emotion? To me, it looks like the photographer just saw a bottle of water. The composition doesn't feel well balanced, and why have the negative space at the top? The wrinkled background doesn't work for me. The lighting doesn't hit me with any impact, and the bottle isn't sharp. Any reason why your point of view is in line with the top of the bottle using a relatively wide-angle focal length?
Hope this helps! |

Pure Instinctby cogeroxComment: Such a shame it's flying AWAY! I really don't like the border, this effect usually strikes me as tacky. Expecially yellow. |

Pure Contentmentby JutildaComment: Nice study in textures and colours. I'd have liked it if you'd given the cow even less space in your composition placing it at the top left of your frame. As a rule, you should aim to have humans and animals facing into negative space. |

Pure Innocenceby BrookiedComment: Feels accidentally overexposed rather than deliberately high-key. Composition feels off, needs cropping tighter at the top as there's too much forehead relative to the shot. Also, if you're going to crop that near the mouth, why leave so much room above the eyes? |

Pure cowardsby tomzComment: This shot feels a bit shoehorned into the challenge. Expecially the title. Shame about the cloudy sky which is just pure white in this shot. |

100% Pure RAGE!!!by PixlmakerComment: Good pov, not so good lighting. The ceiling doesn't help the composition which already feels a little out of balance... there's too many areas in the frame which don't do anything especially at the top and left. Great model and expression. |

Pure Eleganceby JariComment: An unusual composition, no rule of thirds for you! Somehow this seems to work. I really like the bokeh and splashes of blue. I do think you could perhaps take off a little off the right hand side. |

Pure Enjoymentby cdn1Comment: I don't think the strange crop works, what was wrong with 2/3 or 3/4? The man is too close to the edge of the frame... what's wrong with rule of thirds here? The red/orange doesn't work too well for me, I'd be tempted to colour balance it. The silhouette isn't really strong, was it possible to move around to get a better angle? The object on the upper right edge of the frame really kills the composition. The change in consistency in the water at the top of the frame is also not good for the composition, I wonder why you left it in? |

Pure Mother and Son Loveby Buckeye_FanComment: Would be a lovely photo if the baby's expression was more co-operative. Here, it really makes me want to laugh at how much he/she didn't want the photo to work. I don't think the square crop works here. Conversion to b&w hasn't gone well... did you use the channel mixer in PS? Shame the clothes are overexposed, this takes attention away from the faces. Baby's face is also slightly overexposed. Looks like onboard flash was used, which is not good. Buy an external flash! |

Watcherby rinacComment: IMO, the point of DPC challenges is not to meet them to the letter, but to meet the spirit of the challenge. Photographing a family member in your car is not meeting the spirit of the challenge in my book. What did you learn with this shot? Did it take as much courage as photographing a stranger? Was it as hard to anticipate the expression as someone you've never met? And in this particular shot, what was so special about this expression that it had to be captured for posterity? Why would you have taken this shot if it wasn't for a DPC challenge? Will it stand the test of time? It's exactly the sense of context (the inside of a car) that makes this a poor shot for me. The reason for the shot has to have been stalking a kid or a family snapshot. |
