timeless pictureby whiterookComment: The varied levels of misunderstanding here are fantastic and I think you may be the only one who really understood this challenge. Congratulations on a well earned and relatively nice looking brown. |

Low Rider by tryingtostayinfocusComment: Originally posted by tryingtostayinfocus: I wasn't sure if the comments that were referring to it looking staged was because of him looking at me or because of the background and subject looking different. |
Congratulations on the ribbon. I was one of the ones that pointed out the staged look and what caught my eye wasn't so much the subject looking at the camera or looking different from the background. It was a few things for me... The ground of the foreground doesn't seem to match the ground of the background; Blur lines suddenly stop on the ground of the foreground; There is a clean border like break between foreground and background; And the curve of the line between foreground and background doesn't seem to match the blur lines in the background.
I was actually shocked that more people didn't point these things out, but I'm just a beginner, so I'll defer to the experts around here. I suppose the foreground is a cross street/walk that is just suddenly buttery smooth and the subtle lines at the very bottom help to see that slightly. Too bad there wasn't just an irregularity or two in that foreground to show more clear motion (although it must be great to ride on).
It really is an effective shot either way. Given that it's unstaged, it's good enough to have fooled some of us into thinking it might be staged. It's almost too bad it's not staged, because then you could say you made a shot good enough to fool a whole bunch of fantastic photographers.
Thanks for the fun misadventure in photo sleuthing.

Kitchenby LonzComment: Congratulations! You have the third most under rated photo of the challenge. That deserves a special award don't you think? I would give 1st most under rated to holding what you cannot reach and 2nd to Ode to Harold, but hey, that's just my humble opinion.
Thanks for such a thought provoking entry. |

Coloring Bubblesby JeniYComment: Wait, am I in the rainbow challenge?!? This is great and thanks for taking the more creative route. I'm really curious about how difficult the bubbles were to work with. |
