Yes it is a rain gauge, and I would have preferred it not be there, becuse I think it is a distraction to the overall composition, but I wanted the contrast between the mail box and the fire blackened post.

I saw this photo earlier and didn't comment. I liked it, but thought most things had been said. Throughout the course of the afternoon and evening, I have actually thought of this image several times, (which is unusual). The arrow and the person are extremely significant, and it has a great title. Perhaps it says more about me than you. I love it and have added it to my favs. Congrats on a great shot!

Nice image. I like the fog like bit at the end of the road. I'm not sure if it's fog or the lighting, but I think that's what gives it the peaceful feel.
