Yes it is a rain gauge, and I would have preferred it not be there, becuse I think it is a distraction to the overall composition, but I wanted the contrast between the mail box and the fire blackened post.

| Very interesting composition! I also like the shapes and the leading lines throughout. What is the plastic looking thing on the backside of the post? A rain gauge? It is the only shape I don't really like as it seems out of place. |
