Bulb burner by kiwinessComment: Congrats on YABR! (= Yet Another Blue Ribbon; an acronym that was created specifically because of you Gary!) Great shot; the glowing filament and the way it colors the smoke is terrific. I shall have to try this some time, sounds like fune... especially with the extra "tips" you provided this time around. |

RGB Smoke by EddyGComment: Thanks for all the great comments everyone!.
I have to say that terje changed his comment three times during this challenge... his first comment was simply:
EddyG?
Then, a few days later, he changed it to something like:
EddyG or Kiwiness for sure! Good luck!
and then a few days after that, he changed it to the "final" version you see below. I thought the whole sequence was pretty funny. I didn't show this picture to anybody else or tell anyone which entry was mine, so to Terje I say: "good guess!" (and congrats on your ribbon!)
Thanks again for the nice comments! |

Petit Parfumby EddyGComment: Guess maybe I should have put a regular perfume bottle in the picture to give a better sense of scale to how tiny these perfume bottles really are?

Data Storageby menardmamComment: Nice composition, but is it "every day" enough? I know a lot of people who wouldn't have a clue what this is! (BTW, I wonder if you'll get a DQ request like I did when I submitted my variant of this shot?) |

Physical and Abstract Balance by graphicfunkComment: Congrats on your first ribbon Daniel! This sounds like it was a lot of work, and I'm glad to see it worked out for you. There is something oddly captivating about the fact that the stick isn't perfectly horizontal, nor the edge of the sintra -- almost like the balance is unstable and may become unbalanced at any second. Really nice color palette. Great job! Go Team Canon! (P.S. I found myself staring into the steel balls trying to see what was around the camera when you took the picture. :-) |

A Daring Escape by scalvertComment: Terrific shot Shannon! I didn't get a chance to vote in this challenge, but if I did, this likely would have been my highest rated image. Love the concept, and your execution is great. The DOF is spot-on; I really like how the wood grain of the table blurs smoothly away... I know how hard it is to control reflections in a roundish object like your fishbowl, and you did an admirable job. Congrats on your first ribbon! |

Saint Mary's Lake by jodiecostonComment: What a terrific capture Jodie! Congrats on getting your second ribbon so soon after your first. The more I look at your picture, the better it gets. I hope to one day be able to take a landscape picture as good as you do! |

Angel by heidaComment: Congrats on another ribbon Heiða! After seeing your "from the camera" original, it is amazing how a photo can be totally transformed into something extraordinary by someone with the right "vision" in the digital darkroom. What a difference! |

Touched by the Evening Light by librodoComment: Congrats on the ribbon Manny! I'm gonna go against the grain here (and I'm sure even more people will dislike me because of it), but this picture just doesn't do anything for me. I'm not sure why, since so many other people can't believe how it awesome it is. Strange! Maybe it is because I found the moirÂÂé pattern in the veil, the shiny spot on her nose and "graininess" of her skin distracting? In any event, trying to understand this discontinuity between so many others calling this photo "perfect" and me not seeing it as anything out-of-the-ordinary is something I'm gonna have to think about, because apparently I'm missing something... But in your case, I would keep up what your doing, 'cause everybody else loves it! Congrats again! |
