Hi there from the Critique Club!

Hmm...this one is a bit difficult for me. The subject matter is not something that I found visually interesting or appealing but that is a somewhat subject opinion. Obviously, judging by some of the comments, other people found this a highly interesting subject.

From a technical standpoint, the focus is sharp and the lighting is such that very few distracting glares or reflections were created. The cropping is tight so that there is very little to distract the eye from the main subject. I would suggest that the dust on the black base should have been wiped off before shooting. I wish

I could offer a more in-depth critique then this but, frankly, this just isn't the kind of image or subject that provokes an emotional response in me or raises any interesting questions. It clearly documents an object that I use but never see. That is about as far as this photo takes me.

A beautifully sharp and detailed image of a device we all use every day, but almost never see. The lighting and photographer's angle are very well done and the sharpness is just right. I like the green circuit-board background and I assume the 1's and 0's on the disc are a reflection you created by hoisting some sort of a backdrop for that purpose. Very well thought out and nicely executed.

Cool! How did you get the ones and zeros on the platter? Nice exposure, creative composition.

I am wondering how did you achieved to put those perfect 0/1 on the platter

Great idea, and one of my top pick for the challenge. Too bad its an open challenge and couldn't be cleaned up properly.

Are the 1's and 0's on a printed page above to cast the reflectoin on the disc? Either that, or you have one hell of a macro lens! :) Nice capture.

Nice composition, but is it "every day" enough? I know a lot of people who wouldn't have a clue what this is! (BTW, I wonder if you'll get a DQ request like I did when I submitted my variant of this shot?)

AWESOME SHOT! Great concept. Brilliant idea to reflect binary numbers in the disk but it might have worked better to put them in a circular pattern to match the disk.
