Yipes! Well maybe some people savor the "brown ribbon" status, but I can hardly believe this entry ended there. Still, notice the average from commenters. Thanks for the background information. In the future, I'll be more careful and not predict "lower end result", at least to avoid any residual guilt from possibly issuing a jinx.

I hate the smell of these things, as well as what they do to health. On the other hand, holding all that aside, this is an elegantly lit uncluttered image in which even the wiff of smoke contributes a nice curve echoing the ash tray, wich is a pretty unusual and interesting object iteself. Good job.

Enjoyable use of negative space and non-standard crop to acheive a very good portrait. White of eye seems dull, raising possiblity that a slight boost in brightness at the upper end of a curve might be beneficial.

Normally I don't appreciate motorbike jump pictures, but this one really captures well a sense of exhileration. Nice to have interesting clouds that help the composition. Would like to see it without the building in the image, but realize choices are limited in such situations.

Saw a group of working cowhands earlier this month in SW Utah, with almost no similarity to this soft urban critter. Ignoring the title, very good portrait nonetheless.
