At the Water's Edgeby amsmythComment: I am glad that you submitted this one vs. the one you posted in the forum, this shot is full of tension and is very dynamic, it has fabulous light and lines! It also has a few points of interest, my fav being the ice itself. The ripple, the hole in the ice, the reflection of the ice in the water are all also interesting too look at. And I think this is a very enjoyable shot!!
well done |

Down the Drainby Spork99Comment: Greetings from the CC, here goes my suggestions, please take them as that and not more : ). I like the idea of your subject, and i really like the way the light is in the outer rings, I think the rust helps to add a real warmth in color (though it worries me you drink it : ( ). I do find the concrete wall to be a little distracting and such a stark contrast to the light and movemnt of the water. I would be curious to see the walls of the sink cropped out. I think the composition of the drain in the corner works very well. I also like that the water is running and adds an additional point of interest. I think your photo makes a good point about water more than wows so to speak, but I think there is certainly a place for this kind of photography! Keep up the work! |

Sundew: Tiny Carnivore - Macroby kayceeComment: Hi greetings from the critique club, here goes my thoughts and ideas on your shot. First of all, I love the dew drops!! I think your subject is a little too central and would benefit from being shifted a little to the right, I also think if it was cropped a bit more tightly it would help to highlight the actual subject and cut out the frivilous leaves on ground. I also wonder if there would be a way to get the Sundew to be a little darker, or perhaps a bit might contrast may make it 'pop' out a little more. You obviously have a great eye to find such a beautiful and small subject to shoot, which is great!! Another suggestion may have been to bend that leaf that overlaps the flower out of the way as you took the shot, leaving your subject unobstructed. Keep up the good work noticing the details and interesting subjects around!!
Good work! |
