Lockedby orussellComment: Hi greetings from the CC, well this is a good example of a (no offense) boring subject, but with a good composition and good lighting you have made it a pleasing shot. The choice of the black underneath contrasting the bright colors was an excellent choice. Sharpness is very good. My only slight critique would be if you placed the red wheel off center a little more to the right, but it is not completely centered. Your shot IMO shows a mastery of technical aspects of photography, esp demonstrated in a challenge with a dull topic IMO, well done!
happy shooting! |

Water Wheelby Links 2 3 4Comment: Hi greetings from the CC, great choice of subjects. i like the sharpness in your shot and the water. If you shot with a higher aperature (i.e. 20-25) you would get a silky water effect. My biggest critique is that this is overexposed on the top, hard to avoid on bright sunny days, I find shooting early am or in the evening my shots get much better in terms of lighting. I am not sure if your camera has a spot meter function, but if does spotting on the bright spot will help. Or setting it to a daylight setting will help a little. Or you can crop more sometimes. I like your shot overall, just a few suggestions. |

Brown Bag Specialby docfreeman1Comment: Grretings from the Critique Club. Well sorry for your first challenge you got slammed, dpc voters like things to be clear. This shot is too centrally located for most i suspect, it is somewhat lacking in detail and interest for a close up shot. I try to encourage people to look at their shots and make sure all the technical elements are there: good lighting, 1/3 2/3 compostion, interesting choice of subject (which as in this challenge can be very hard when the topic is to shoot something that is not usually considered interesting), is the shot sharp. Just some general advice hope it helps. |

Motion Spectrumby larrylefComment: Greetings from the CC, given the challenge topic I like this shot, has good colors, composition is good tho i think would of been good to do a horizontal flip so the dark heavy part is on the right. Good use of motion blur to create some interest and movement in you shot. Overall a creative and well done shot within the realm of challenge topic. Keep shooting : ) |

Wheels of Steelby ewebComment: Greetings from the CC. Well your shot is overexposed quite a bit on the top right portion of the photo. I also find that it is very busy, perhaps shooting at a different aperature to allow for some depth of field, I can see that you may want to include the station in the background but I find it very busy. The sharpness and use of b & w is very well done. Hope this helps a little. Keep shooting. |

Eye of the Stormby BobsterLobsterComment: Hi greeings from CC, I think this photo has an emotive, eerieness going for it, while it is not the kind of shot most would hang on a wall (well unless you do a lot of psychedelic drugs) but is the kind of shot I could imagine on the cover of a music mag. The technical aspects are also very well done, use of DOF is interesting, feels as tho it is reversed by having center image sharp and extremities not so. (curious if this is out of cam or PSed?) The color scheme enhances the feminity of the shot. Composition is also very well suited to the image. Very well done, I suspect it did not scream choas to lots of folks tho, hence the lowish score. Well done bob! |
